Happy Mothers Day to all of you! Thank you for your visits and your comments that brighten my day every day.
Horse show! My daughter competes in the fall and spring horse show at the stables near our house where she takes horseback riding lessons. They show off their skills and it’s kind of like a piano recital. They have to make the horse walk, lope, jog, etc. Morgan had some very uncooperative horses who had been lugging around obnoxious children all day and were tired of it. She had to ride Queenie in her second event. Queenie is tall and freaks her out. Queenie wanted to go everywhere but where Queenie was supposed to go. Morgan was crying when she got off. She said Queenie scared her. Queenie is too big and makes her be too high off the ground. I told her to tell Miss Pate that she isn’t riding Queenie anymore. Morgan said, I have to learn to not be scared when I ride horses that are that high off the ground. Argh. BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID! THIS IS MY BABY!! Where did I go wrong????

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
