Another PAX t-shirt and more autographed books up for grabs today! But first, yesterday’s guessing game. Now–what did I really do on Tuesday? (And the winners are listed below along with the info for today’s giveaway.)
*Started writing and forgot to pick up my daughter from horseback riding lessons.
YES. I DID THIS. I AM A BAD MOTHER. THEY HAD TO CALL ME.:wall:
*Washed the dog and tripped in a hole while chasing him down.
WE HAVE TWO DOGS BUT I WOULDN’T WASH THEM IF THEIR LIVES DEPENDED ON IT!
*Picked a Wal-Mart smilie sticker off my car that my 14-year-old stuck on there.
THIS HAPPENED, BUT NOT ON TUESDAY.
*Wrote 20 pages.
NOT ON TUESDAY.
*Cleaned up cat vomit from my bedroom floor.
MY CAT THREW UP ON THE FLOOR ON TUESDAY, BUT….er….I DIDN’T CLEAN IT UP!
*Picked a Wal-Mart smilie sticker off my car that my 9-year-old stuck on there.
THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED AT ALL.
*Drag-raced my neighbor from the school car line to home.
I DO THIS ALMOST EVERY DAY–BUT I DIDN’T DO IT ON TUESDAY.
Okay, must stop a moment here to explain. My neighbor and I drive to the elementary school first, then the middle school. Whoever gets in the elementary school car line has an edge, but if you’re wily, you can make it up and cut them off on the way to the middle school. You can get an edge again in the middle school car line, then the real race is getting home from there, where you can take a different route, speed, pray for no red lights, cut them off, make it home first. Lots of strategy involved! Whoever gets home first, that child calls the other house and shouts into the phone, “We beat you!” IT’S ALL VERY MATURE. I picked up my kids early on Tuesday, so we didn’t race.
*Wrote 10 pages.
YES! I DID THAT ON TUESDAY!
*Checked the mail in my t-shirt and underwear and got caught by my neighbor.
I DO THIS A LOT AND SOMETIMES GET CAUGHT, BUT NOT ON TUESDAY!
*Lost my keys and found them in my daughter’s closet.
YES! AND THIS REALLY MADE IT HARD TO GO GET HER FROM THE STABLES WHEN THEY CALLED…..
So the correct answers are: 1) forgot my daughter, 2) wrote 10 pages, 3) lost my keys and found them in my daughter’s closet. The winner of the PAX mug (the first person who guessed right) is: LAURIE! And the winner of their pick of an autographed book as runner-up (the only other person who also guessed the correct 3 but wasn’t first) is: LYNN! (If I missed someone else who also guessed the correct 3, tell me! I checked and double-checked, but I might have missed someone.) Laurie and Lynn–email me with your addresses!
TODAY’S GIVEAWAY: For a PAX t-shirt ! (I’ll make this one easier.) Guess how old I was when I sold my first book! The first person to guess right wins the t-shirt . Everyone else who guesses right gets their pick from my backlist of an autographed book. Guess up to 3 times in different comments. You can get some clues from my Bio page–it tells how many children I’d had when I wrote my first book, and my kids are now 9, 12, and 14, and I sold my first book 13 months after I started writing. That should give you a guessing range.
So, how old was I when I sold my first book? :rotfl:

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
