Behave While I’m Gone

Jul
25

Blackberries! Tons of ‘em! In the holler behind the barns! I went nuts picking berries, got all sweaty and gross and was picking off ticks all night. Why are the best berries the hardest to reach? So when I get back from my trip, I’m gonna learn how to make blackberry preserves with cousin Georgia!

Speaking of my trip….. I’m leavin’ on a jet plane…. Yes! It’s Romance Writers of America conference time! My clothes are packed, my hair is highlighted, my nails are painted. TIME TO GO! I’ll be back and blogging August 8th….cuz I’m going to California for a week right after RWA, touring San Francisco and playing hooky with Jill Shalvis! Golden Gate Bridge! Street cars! Redwoods! Napa! Vino!!!! Come back for cool photos in August and more Free Book Friday contests and news about my new Haven series.

Oh yeah, the winner from this weekend’s Free Book Friday: Joyce! Click the Contact button in the menu bar above and send me your autographed pick from my contemporary backlist!

Free Book Friday: Happiness Is…..

Jul
21

…when your cousin lets you drive his old ambulance. Don’t ask why he has an old ambulance. WE DON’T KNOW.

Fifteen, and dreaming of his learner’s permit……

….thirteen, and dreaming of his learner’s permit….

Ten, and not totally sure what a learner’s permit is BUT THE AMBULANCE IS REALLY COOL!

And then the ambulance drove away into that good night. Thank God we got out of it without needing a REAL ambulance.

What’s happiness for you this weekend? One random comment number will be picked to receive an autographed book from my contemporary backlist!

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
