Free Book Friday: The Big Conundrum

Jan
19

Can you tell she’s a fifth grader? How does she manage to have food in her mouth every time I take her picture?

Princess is having a birthday! Monday, but she knows how to spread out the birthday cheer over as many days as possible. She had her class birthday party yesterday (with cupcakes and the works), she’ll have a family birthday party on Monday, and a birthday party next Friday at home with her friends.

So yesterday, after 22 cupcakes vanished with blinding speed, I said, “Do you want to go ahead and come home with me now, or do you want to stay and ride the bus home?”

She had trouble making up her mind. While she was mulling it over, I said to the class–”Do you think she will come home with me now so she can get to her beloved TV faster, or do you think she will stay and ride the bus so she doesn’t have to cut short her social time?”

Even the class had trouble making up their minds. The vote was split.

What did she decide? One comment number will be selected from the correct guessers to win their autographed pick from my contemporary backlist! :shimmy:

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
