I grew up in a house with a front porch in a small Mayberry type town and I recall playing with my dog in the morning sun and sitting with my family watching storms roll through. Around Halloween our front porch was transformed into a frightening "haunted house". My husband and I have decided to add a wrap around porch to our old 2 story farmhouse. We have 3 acres, a pond, a wonderful barn, big trees and evergreens, 3 dogs, 3 horses and a cat with 4 kittens. Add a porch and this will be my home, vacation spot, and a place to sit and listen to the spring peepers - one of my favorite things! Thanks for sharing your beautiful porch with us. I hope ours is as beautiful. I agree with everyone else on those fireflies in the jar. I need some because the real ones don't stay around long enough. Thanks for sharing your beautiful porch with us

How pretty! I LOVE wraparound porches and have seen one or two here, in NICE subdivisions and then alot in the country. I don't have a porch, but I am thinking of cute things I saw on porches...maybe little tables by the chairs, so people can set thier lemonade down, or thier Kahlua drink down (smile) and their piece of cracker candy, between bites. I also think maybe something by the front door and maybe on either side - small topiary trees, or a cute wooden cat or just a plant...but something. Also, a couple plant stands or little stools with plants on them. Heck even an old church pew. Just thinkiing of things I have seen. I'll keep thinking...

:woof: I love the rockers on the front porch. I have some cheap plastic Adirondack chairs and a little table to hold a drink. My favorite thing is my grapevine tree with lights. The little neighbor girl wants to know why I have a Christmas tree on my front porch all year long. Oh, and I have a cat that adopted me that lives on my front porch. I live in the city and it's rare to see anyone on their front porch . . . but it's fun to people watch.

Thanks for the tip about the rockers! I've already Googled the nearest Value City -- looks like a trip to visit my relatives on the way to St. Albans is due in the near future. Unfortunately, part of my wrap-around porch was remodeled in the 40's to add a bathroom to the century-old house. A partial porch, and a bathroom. I miss the porch, but the indoor bathroom does have its advantages over the three-hole outhouse, especially in winter. But now that it's spring around here...

I'm not even sure how I came across your blog now, but I'm your neighbor across the Ohio. I'm a little farm girl in a little small rural town in SE Ohio. Your posts remind me of me and my family. I look forward to the next day's!

AAAAAAAAGH!! I have a jar of battery operated fireflies just like that!! Aren't they cute? My favorite thing on my porch is an old galvanized wash tub that I bought a few years ago to use as a planter. Every year I plant flowers or herbs (depending on my mood) in it. I think it would look great on your porch too!

All you need is love and the rest will fill in as time goes by. I hope you have many many many years of lots of children and grandchildren, lots of friends and a true love to spend as much time with as possible on that beautiful porch. Now go on and make a lot of memories.

I feel that a vacation to your farmhouse would be one of the greatest vacations of all time. I want to come in the hot summer and sit on the porch and swim in the swimming hole with Princess. That is how my summers were spent as a child and occasionally as an adult.

Wonderful rockers!!
