Now I know why the cows are always out.
Today I want to highlight just a few of the topics brightening my day over on the forum, and also toot the horns of just a couple of the many posters who make it so much fun.
What’s your fantasy Santa list? GeorgiaZ cracked us up, as usual, with her imaginative–and no holds barred–dream of Christmas bliss:
“Because I’m me, and I am greedy this year, because I never am, I am the giver and never the receiver in my families. I am passed over on birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s, Mothers Days, Arbor Days, etc. So this year I WANT! First and most important of all, my sewing room exactly like I want it! With a machine table, cutting table, loads of shelves, peg board walls, flannel design wall, tv, stereo, room to set up my easel and paint if I want. ORGANIZATION! I want tons of those clear plastic drawer things full of everything. Then I want a farm. About 10 acres far enough out to not hear traffic. I want it in WV but will settle for here for now. I want chickens, cows, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, turkeys and a tank with fish (yall call it a pond). Lots of trees and a windy road to get to my ranch house. And I want a tractor and a truck. And a big garden and a greenhouse. And a ranch hand (well tanned and toned and eager to do my bid). And I want my husband to have a job that makes him really happy and me a lot of money. And a goldfish pond in my back yard with a hammock beside it. I want a VW beetle convertible. And out behind my ranch house, I want a little glass art studio with a bose radio in it. And a big landscaped pool with a waterfall and lagoon like Hugh Hefner has and a hot tub. And I want a guest house where I can have retreats with all my girlfriends and we can do whatever and have fun. And I want to have 4 real seasons at my farm and never over 90 degrees hot. That’s all I can think of right now, but if I think of anything else, I will add it later. Thank you Santa, I love Rudolf!”
Wow. I wanna be a fly on the wall when GeorgiaZ finds all that under her tree!
After you’ve made your holiday wish list, check out the fabulous lists of favorite things! I loved them all. Here’s Gizmo’s to get you started:
I love my family!
Nuzzling and exchanging breaths with my horses on a cold morning. I love the soft, velvety spot on the every tip of their muzzles.
Fabric and quilts – especially the stories that go with antique quilts.
I love listening to my daughter read.
Spending time with my dogs.
The smell of a newborn lamb or kid.
Fresh cut hay!!
Overflowing canning shelf/ves.
My friends.
Autumn!
Homemade foods.
My farm!
My husband’s poetry!
What are your favorite things?
And, oh! There are so many more wonderful things on the forum that my own list of favorite topics overfloweth! Ideas and solutions abound on the forum, and who knows where you could put your knowledge to good use, so come help us! If you’ve got any great tips for baked beans or an amazing recipe for fruitcake, let us know, we’re waiting! And if you’re in the market for an incredible Thanksgiving dessert (and who isn’t??), we’ve got those, too. (Pumpkin Trifle, anyone?)
And, of course, as always, we want to know what’s for dinner. (Well?? What is it?)
So c’mon over to the forum. Consider this your engraved invitation!

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
