It Runs in the Family

Nov

I’ve spent a lot of time recently going through photos from the past year. (Why? It’s a secret. I’ll share as soon as I can.) I take so many millions of pictures that many languish forever unused in the labrynth of photo files on my computer, forever left to the digital dust as farm life marches on and they are forgotten in favor of new adventures.

But when I happened on this series of photos taken last summer, I knew they had to come out and play.

This is, after all Clover’s sister. Can’t you tell?

Notice she has the same white half-moon on her side as Clover has, only she has one on both sides.

She looks exactly like Clover otherwise, though. See?

This is Clover’s sister.

This is Clover’s sister on cookies.

I hope she’s not hurting herself here.

“Cooookieeeeeeeee! I want MY COOOOKIEEEEEEE!!!!”

“WHERE IS MAH COOKIE?!”

Nom nom nom nom nom.

“I’M NOT DONE!!!!”

Yeah. Well. Sorry. Fifty cookies is your limit!

Or fifty-one. We can talk about fifty-one….

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
