Holy COW! These look awesome! I've been making bourbon and rum balls for years now, but my recipe uses (the dreaded) cookie crumbs instead of just sugar. I have a heck of a sweet tooth, but I think this recipe might be too sweet for me. I love the way they look like they're melting after you take a bite, tho. And I might have to try soaking my nuts before mixing my next batch.

These look amazing and I will make them this year for Christmas gifts. And - since I am from KY and live within 20 minutes of the Maker's Mark distillery - glad to see the KY bourbon being used :)

[...] There is something rather fascinating about a ball of goodness spiked with whiskey dipped in chocolate and then let to age. When eaten it gives this rather intoxicating taste and does take one on a heavenward journey even if it just lasts for 5 minutes. As soon as you sink your teeth into this ball of goodness it gives a different high. Sweet with condensed milk and sugar and rich with dry fruits and quite a quantity of whiskey these are an idea gift for a friend or a good snack in office when no one’s looking or you really need the sugar stress buster. Glucose and it’s simple form sugar is proven to reduce anger and stress levels. Once consumed it works almost immediately to reduce aggressiveness and anger. So make a few of these and keep them close on a high stress day. The sugar will calm your anger and the alcohol, will sooth your nerves. Or you can just have it as a treat for your sweet tooth and a bit of whiskey never did hurt anyone. This recipe comes from one of my favorite blogs Chickens In The Road. Suzanne live on a farm in West Virginia with her three children and looks after her army of goats, sheep, cows, chickens and many other animals. Her blog is about her day to day life which does not only include the amazing food that she cooks but also all the activity that goes on in the farm. Her blog is addictive and once you visit you’ll keep going back for more. This is the link to the original recipe. Bourbon Balls [...]

Melissa, I don't know. It's cold here so when I take the bourbon balls out of the freezer, they aren't in a warm environment. You might not want to freeze it.

I wondering about the chocolate coating... I've read that any moisture into the chocolate will cause it to seize. But I live in a warm climate, so when I take the balls out of the freezer condensation will form. Do you think that will be a problem?
