We live in different states, so between visits, we try and connect in a variety of ways. First of all, my dad is very good about trying new technologies. In the last year he has learned to text message - which is a great way to send a quick hello. We also email and sometimes chat online. We even used Skype for a while. I make an effort to call him. Even when I'm not in the mood to be on the phone, I make myself give him a ring. I'm always glad that I did. I think we both try to listen to one another and remain open-minded.
