I live in a big city and yearn for a life away from it every day. I grew up in the country, and miss it more the older I get. We have a lovely 100 acres in the country just begging us to come. It's been family land for longer than any of us have been alive, and it will be so special to live there. I daydream of the time that I will call it home, and reading your blog helps to keep me focused on that goal. You've already nudged me to can my own food, and bake from scratch. I have a good friend with chickens here in the city and have enjoyed helping tend them too. I'll have chickens of my own, and dare I dream...some little goats too :) You're doing a great, super, fantastic, bang up job at keeping us informed and interested in life on the farm. Because you are soooo good at it, I voted for you like my life depended on it for the SamE contest. You are one busy lady. I remember when ( having four sons), we seemed to live at the baseball field and the gym for basketball. I worked at home also, transcribing medical records for thirty years, so I could be home with them and do the running around that was necessary. But, I didn't have farm animals and sure didn't cook like you do. Tipping my hat (if I had one) to you. Thanks so much for taking the time to talk about what you do and post all those great pics. I am a spinner, and the view of Mr. Cotswold, Annabelle, and the Jacob sheep make my fingers twitch! I'd be happy to come up and give you some guidance for using a drop spindle. It is much easier than a spinning wheel because you can go at your own speed, not the wheel's speed. Cheaper too because you can make your own.
