We had a turkey appear out of nowhere one time. She stayed long enough to get a name and become a pet. She loved to sit on your lap when we would be out on the deck. Strange we thought, be we had never had a turkey before. She slept with the dog, and wanted nothing to do with the chickens, they were beneath her! Then one day she left, just like she had appeared.
