I think that makes me less of a man, but really is that a bad thing? Minimal kindling and I have a snapping fire 20 minutes later. Ahhhhhhhh. . . If you have a good bed of coals you can load up the stove at night, shut the air intake down (but not completely) and you will still have heat through the night and in the morning all you have to do is throw in some larger wood on the coals and get it some air and away you go for the day. Wrap a couple of old birthday candles or a taper candlestick end in wax paper, twisting the ends like a tootsie roll. Put about two of them in with your kindling.
