I have to ask the same thing I always ask my husband-(of 38 happy-mostly!- yrs)–was he aiming for the fence……………? I know-it’s very hard to get those things to fall where you want them-my darlin’ was once so sure of where he was going to drop a tree-he moved my truck out of he way-at my instance-moved his jalopy there and then came in a few minutes later calling the used auto supply for a new windshield………..wonder why…………ya gotta love em……. rain

My hubby has done quite a lot of tree cutting. His brother is a logger, which comes in very handy Yes, it’s a risky business. You have to know what you’re doing. Glad it all came out well.

Wow! Good thing it didn’t hit the house!
My husband cut an old dead birch for my brother and it broke in three huge pieces WHILE IT WAS FALLING during the cutting….one piece almost hit his head….we were so lucky.
They don’t call them “widow makers” for nothing!

A tree like that weights a Ton. My husband used to have me help him cut down a tree now and then…I was the rope holder! Scary stuff! I’m glad 52 got out of the way anyway.

Cutting our own trees and chopping firewood are two of the jobs that I worry about the most if we ever do get our little place in the country. So much can go wrong and my people are such city kids. I guess I am now, too. But my mom did it when she was over 60 years old. Yes, my mom, not my dad.
I sympathize with you, Deb Turner. My move to a small city was only supposed to be while the kids were small because I don’t drive. Closer to doctors and all. Over twenty years later, we’re still here.

I posted your blog on mine this morning . I have to say I absolutely love it . I used to have to cut for firewood . We now live in the city and I hate it . I want to get back to the country . I envy you and your way of life . It might seem like a struggle at times but it is well worth it to be away from all of the hustle bustle , and crime . I miss my garden the most .I am praying we will be able to find a home soon in the boonies . I could be a hermit .

Glad no one was hit. Growing up my dad cut wood and he almost had a tree fall on him…scary!

I figured he’d move a car first,knew he would be sure it would’nt hit your house,figured it had to do more damage than to it a plant…but I still wasnt fast enough!!

From the looks of the snow still on the ground, firewood is a good thing!
