The Enchanted Bath Giveaway

Jul
20

Linda from The Enchanted Bath arrived at the studio grand opening party with a gift for you–some of her handmade soap products. I make soap, but Linda MAKES soap–she is a true artist. Yes, what you see in the above photo and can see better in the photo below is soap that looks like a slice of cake. (I have no idea how she does that.)

Included in the giveaway package provided by Linda is a bar of Sleeping Angels soap, sugar scrub cubes, a bar of Citrus and Marigold soap, a hand cream bar, and the “slice of cake” soap–which is so pretty, you will have a hard time using it!

For a chance to win: Leave a comment on this post and let me know you want it. One winner will be drawn by random comment number to receive the soap giveaway package. Eligible entry cut-off is midnight Eastern (U.S.) time tonight (July 20). This post will be updated with the winner by 10 a.m. Eastern (U.S.) time tomorrow (July 21). Return to this post to claim your book if your name is drawn

See all of Linda’s beautiful creations at The Enchanted Bath here!

Thank you, Linda!

UPDATE 07/21/12: The winning comment number, drawn by random.org, is comment #44, laurie hamar. Email me at CITRgiveaways@yahoo.com with your address for shipping.

Black Razzlecherry Jam (BBB)

Jul
20

Following the Great Summer Power Outage of 2012, I made a couple batches of Dede’s Black Razzlecherry Jam (Dede = wvhomecanner, our resident CITR preserving expert!) using sour cherries from my cherry tree and black raspberries from my pasture. (I didn’t strain to remove the seeds because seeds don’t bother me.) This is a delicious way to use up a mix of berries and cherries. (Exchange raspberries for blackberries or other berries according to what you have.) If you’ve got some berries and cherries that are begging to be put in a jar, you can find Dede’s recipe here:

Black Razzlecherry Jam.

I haven’t canned in a month or so. I miss canning if I don’t can for a bit! You? Or are you still waiting to get started? Wait no more!

Available today is another copy of the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving. I have this book, and love it. It has all the beginner instructions and recipes from the basic BBB, but it’s expanded to include lots of unique gourmet recipes to appeal to the advanced canner, too.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
