Cow Giving Birth

We have a baby!

This is how I discovered Glory Bee yesterday afternoon.

Two little hooves! And a little head…

Glory Bee didn’t really want to talk about it, but I knew THIS WAS MY CHANCE! Finally! I ran inside for my camera and took a video of the entire birth.

Dumplin tried to help.

It’s a GIRL.

Her name is Moon Pie.

She looks just like daddy. Daddy was a mixed breed beef bull from up the road. Daddy:

She was quickly on her feet and nursing.

Mommy, baby, and big sister are all doing well!

What a wonderful event and thnk you for sharing it with us.
It is amazing that animals know just what to do when they give birth, It was nice of Dumplin to be on hand just incase she was needed.
I love the name, Moonpies are one of my favorite snacks.

She’s very cute. Moon Pie is a good name for someone so sweet. She seemed pretty blasé about this whole being born process. She and Glory Bee and Dumpling make a nice family group. You’re getting yourself a nice little dairy herd there.

Always amazes me to see the birth of a new being, be it human or animal. Loved getting to hear the first breaths and little sounds coming from her. Momma did a great job, and the welcoming committee was so attentive. Such a sweet video. Thanks so much for sharing!

I am so over the moon (pun intended) happy for all of you. I must say that Glory Bee makes some beautiful babies but little Miss Moon Pie is just gorgeous!! Beaulah Petunia is mooing with grandmotherly delight, I’m sure. I’m so proud of Dumplin. She is such a sweet big sister. All around, this just brightened my day a thousand fold. Thank you so much. Wishing you a happy, healthy future with your family. No beef feeding for Moon Pie. Her Auntie Amy just couldn’t take it

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
