Fanta Has Babies!

Jan
17

Yesterday was a completely normal day. Unlike Nutmeg, who holed up in the goat house early in the day before giving birth, Fanta hung out with her friends all day. They watched a couple movies and did their nails. She had dinner with everyone.

Then she went into the goat pen and quietly popped out two little bottle caps.

No screaming and yelling or anything.

We knew there were babies when we heard the sound of tiny bleating–and it wasn’t coming from the goat house!

This one is all black, a miniature replica of mommy.

This one is brown with black booties, black around the eyes, a black stripe down the back, and a black underbelly.

And THEY’RE BOTH GIRLS!! (Yes, we’re sure.)

Nutmeg’s upset about sharing the maternity ward. She’s been hiding in the dog house ever since Fanta and her babies moved in.

She won’t let Dr. Pepper go out to play.

Dr. Pepper: “Please, mommy, please, let me play with them!”

Fanta: “Some girls are such drama queens. She’s a screamer, you know.”

Meanwhile, Sprite is still….. Sprite. No news yet.

Mr. Pibb isn’t sure she’s pregnant. What if he did the job wrong?

Mr. Pibb: “I’ll keep trying!

OMG, love baby goats. I used to have pet goats, they are fun critters, and they do have very strong and distinct personalities.

Yay, Girls, FINALLY! I’m so glad they have all been born healthy and with no problems for the momma’s. This has been such a joy for me. :snoopy: Nutmeg and Fanta delivered exactly a week apart, didn’t they? Maybe Sprite will go next Sunday! Nutmeg is being very protective.

Is Nutmeg usually a drama queen? After all, Dr. Pepper was folded up sort of funny. Maybe she really was having some problems?:)

Mr. Pibb cracks me up. But I wouldn’t say that Nutmeg was necessarily a drama queen. Apparently Dr. Pepper’s front legs weren’t in the correct position, so maybe it really was a more difficult, painful delivery. Come on, Fanta, remember that you and Sprite spend your time together memorizing Bible verses and praying for Clover. So be kind! (And if you can’t be kind, don’t allow yourself to be quoted in a public forum. Heh heh.)

So many babies, so little time to hold and cuddle every one of them! I’m still curious about Clover’s kids – what do they think of the new babies?

Congratulations! I’m glad Dr Pepper will have some kids his own age to play with (if Nutmeg ever lets him out). I think Nutmeg’s smart to hide out for a bit, until she determines how protective Fanta’s going to be of her babies.

If there is anything cuter than a baby goat, I don’t know what it is. It even takes some baby babies a while to “cuten-up”, but your little guys are just born irresistibly cute. Congratulations!

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
