Continuing with my little series of BBBs that are not BBBs to showcase other great canning literature, here’s one that caught my eye: Canning for a New Generation: Bold, Fresh Flavors for the Modern Pantry by Liana Krisoff. I like that this book is arranged seasonally, which is handy when you’re looking for recipes you can use right now for what’s coming out of your garden or available at the farmers market. There are plenty of recipes–including recipes for using your home-canned foods–and also a good section on canning basics plus some cute tear-off jar labels. It’s a fresh and approachable canning guide. Maybe the one for you?

This is exactly what I need and want. I’ve been working to teach my grown children, daughter and son and his wife how important it is to learn how to can. They’ve gotten much more interested as time has gone along and I’m absolutely sure this would be a huge incentive to them. I feel like things I can sitting on the shelf are like treasures–fulfilling to have food I’ve prepared and satisfying to the heart for what those colorful jars of food represent, my love for my family and friends. Thanks!

Oh my gosh I would love to win this!! A newly aquired friend who also lives close to me and I have decided to team up this year and not only encourage each other to garden more and can more but actually take turns helping each other with each others harvest just like it was done in the old days!! I already own (and use) the BBB and love it of course – but “Canning for a New Generation” looks wonderful. I’d love to have it in my cookbook library and like the idea of it being arranged seasonally which is so helpful…like another fabulous cookbook “Chez Panisse Vegetables” that is arranged alphabetically by vegetable!

Thanks, Suzanne, for introducing fresh new books to us. This one looks logical, and there’s a lot to be said for that. I often discover a recipe only to realize I have to wait six months for the next crop. It’s useful to plan along seasonal lines. BBB, please.
