Pear butter is one of my favorite recipes, and this recipe comes with one of my favorite “canning with Georgia at the old farmhouse” stories. (Find it here.) There’s still time to get pears–I saw some hanging on a tree on a back road just the other day! But you better hurry!
You can get the printable for the pear butter recipe here. Anybody need a BBB to go with it?

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

I haven’t been brave enough to start canning yet. I think having that book in my hand and seeing all of those lovely pictures might be the kick I need to get going.
