Whey cool. That is so cute. I think those New England Cheesemaking people must have been in 4-H. (Remember Amanda’s show heifer, Coffee who was “de calf”?)
My first cheese challenge post for New England Cheesemaking is coming up! Are you ready? Do you have your cheese cave and your homemade press? Are you ready to make Monterey Jack and Pepper Jack? To help you join me in the cheese challenge, New England Cheesemaking is letting me give away another Basic Cheese Making Kit.

She’s not included in the kit:

(Sorry.)
To be in the draw, just tell me you want it! Eligible entry closes at midnight Eastern, November 2. One winner will be drawn by random comment number no later than 9 a.m. November 3. (Somebody has to win. It might as well be you.) Good luck! Let’s make cheese!
UPDATE 11/03/10: The winning comment number, drawn by random.org, is #255, Amy I. Email me at CITRgiveaways(at)yahoo.com with your full name and address for shipping!
THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED.

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

I read your blog everyday. You have me backing bread weekly, drying herbs and creating “hamburger helper”.
I even bought a Steamer Juicer, after I said that was just too much for even me. Now I go to the produce marked and shop the discount cart looking for something new to Juice. We have prickly pear juice as of yesterday. Husband says it taste like a weed. I said added some Tequila to it…. He did, that and some 7up seems to make it palatable.

I have goats, not cows but am learning cheesemaking all the same. In baby steps, we only have one doe in milk right now and my family just about drinks her dry:o) I made my first feta last week though. Next up mozzarella….YUM!

Oh, and convincing my husband that the cute Jersey and goats are a good idea, for this I need luck too. But for now I will be happy to buy milk from farmers like you!
