About that surprise coming to the farm….

The surprise is not….

….that Clover is pregnant. I don’t know yet if she’s pregnant. I can’t tell and she’s not talking. (I think that she’s not, unfortunately. I see no signs to indicate that she is.)

The surprise is not….

….that Pepsi is coming. (You already know that.) I’m fetching Pepsi tomorrow, by the way!

The surprise is not….

….that I’m collecting more ducklings and chicks. (You already know that.)

The surprise is not….

….a mate for Coco.

I’ll even tell you that the surprise is not….

….a girl fainting goat to pair up with Pepsi. By the way, I loved the suggestion in the comments recently to name a girl Sprite to go with Pepsi. I’m planning on it! As soon as I find Sprite…. I don’t know where she is yet. (Sprite? Sprite! Where are you, Sprite?)

I’ll also tell you that the surprise already has a name….

….and it’s Pocahontas.

Pocahontas is in Ohio right now. She’ll be ready for us in June. I can hardly wait! And that’s all I’m gonna tell you.

But, I do have a picture, taken on her home farm in Ohio on Easter Sunday.

Are you ready?

Wanna see the picture?

Are you sure?

Here it is!

Happy Mother’s Day!! You’re the first person to tell me Happy Mother’s Day. I’m not sure my crew will remember…we’ll see if the first time they say anything is when they hear me tell my mom Happy Mother’s Day ;-)

What part of Ohio? I think it may be a llama–they are very protective of other animals from predators. Or a horse for Princess–a white one.
I thought surely that we would get a confirmation of what new critter you were getting–OUR Mother’s Day present! This is almost as bad as waiting to find out the sex!
We have been good and cleaned our plates . . .

Happy Mothers day. It must be something really wonderful. Llama like the other people said. A horse? You did not leave out cow. But I do not think Princess would be sitting there like that petting a cow. Mabe a jersery cow. Those are very nice. If I would have a cow it would be a jersery cow. In fact a few would fit in nicely at your place. But then you need to be building a barn or another building? You have not said anything about building new buildings? Guess we will have to wait awhile yet.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone….If I were to travel to Ohio, I would be getting a llama, especially based on the fence in the picture. Suzanne: was at the Walton Thriftway yesterday and they still have alot of chicks….

Hooray for Niners!! He looks much happier now that he has a tiny bit more personal control over his food.

As far as the surprise addition, I’m looking forward to the “Big Reveal” I’ve never had a problem waiting for Christmas morning to open presents, so I’ll just savor the curiosity factor for now.

    Happy Mother’s Day to all!
Ohio is my home state so I’m very curious to know where in Ohio Pocahontas is coming from. Cute names–Pepsi and Sprite. Did you know Mark Levin, the radio talk show host, had a dog named Sprite and named the next one Pepsi? He wrote a very touching book about them, and the end of Sprite’s life called Rescuing Sprite (both were rescues). Seems those names just go together!

Happy Mother’s Day!! One of my donkeys just brayed to me, wishing me a Happy Mother’s Day, when he heard me feeding the barn kitties. Donkeys and llamas are used here in MN to guard sheep and goats. But I’m thinking maybe a flashy paint mare pony or mini horse, thus the name Pocahontas.
    Have a wonderful day everyone!

You are rotten! But Happy Mother’s Day, anyway. I’ll be hearing from my daughter, probably both sisters, but I’m still fighting pneumonia (a week now) and don’t feel like doing anything or even talking. Nine looks like he’s in heaven now that he has a real bottle and nipple!

OK – I see Lynda D-W already beat me to my guess of a pig!!! At least you were kind enough to answer our other guesses. I’m sorry if Clover really isn’t in a kid way; she probably just wants another “vacation”!!! :cowsleep: :chicken: :sheep:

It’s interesting to see that other people are guessing ‘llama’. When I saw the fencing, the first thing I thought of was an alpaca – so I’ll go with that.

  44. 5-10

It’s too small to be even a baby horse or a donkey, unless it was a miniature, and you said the Ornery Angel was giving you piglets, so you wouldn’t need to go to Ohio for that. I have never seen a baby llama or alpaca, maybe that is small enough to be your secret…

Have your fun teasing us on Mothers’ Day!

    a cow….

  49. 5-10
    3:50
    pm

Happy Mother’s Day. I don’t know if anyone else has guessed this, but I think that Pocahantas is a pig. I believe that you mentioned previously that you would like to raise your own bacon, so what would be better than getting a mama pig so that you could raise a litter of hams and pork chops. I grew up on the farm. We always had a couple of pigs every year. We named them and took care of them, but we knew that they would be going to the locker plant in the fall and provide delicious meals throughout the winter. Congratulations on taking another step to make your farm more self sufficient. If you can get more milk from your goats, you will not need a cow, although a cow could provide milk to feed you and your family as well as the pig, the cats, the chickens and even the giant puppy. Can’t wait to hear about your trip to get Pepsi.

Happy Mothers Day from Tennessee! I have to place my bet on a cute little shetland pony. I think one would fit in perfectly with all of your other lovely animals :) I say the more the better!

A miniature donkey or horse or pony. Whatever it is I think it must be small since the lady in the pic is kneeling. How are they going to ship it your farm?

I also bet on a pig; or a pony (we have tiny ponies here in Argentiina called Fallabella ponies), or a llama; or a coatimundi; or heaven knows what. Please put us out of our misery and show us.

  64. 5-11

It’s not a dog, cat, chicken, goat, duck, Great Pyr., fainting goat or sheep probably. That leaves the rest of the animal kingdom, since it’s not 52 moving in. :hissyfit:
I vote for Pochahontas the Pig.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
