Free Book Friday: What Was She THINKING?

Sep
1

What is this cat thinking? I have NO IDEA. You tell me! This is Spice, the same cat who was pictured in a watering can several months ago. Now she’s in a plastic bag of water bottles! Does she have a water fetish? LOL.

What are you all doing this Labor Day weekend? Me, not much, chillin’. MY BOOK IS DONE!!!!!! Not that this is a relief or anything……

Winner announced on Tuesday! Usual prize–your pick from my contemporary backlist!

Did she not read the warning about “This bag is not a toy”? But such a cute picture!

    How cute!

I’m chillin’ too this weekend. Plan to just hang around, read and catch up on email. Hopefully have a barbeque, too, if the weather holds out.

    Awww, too cute :o )
Nothing much this weekend, gathering seeds from the pots and enjoying the last of the sunshine. Maybe do some reading

Cats love to explore. Having heard the old expression “Curosity killed the cat” all my life, I am guessing it’s true. You cat sure is curious. I plan to do absolutely nothing this week end. I have laboured all my life and now I choose not to. Have a great week end everyone and hugs to all.

Spice thinks that this is a neat place to have for herself. After all, there’s no room for anybody else. And while maybe not everybody can see her, she gets to see in three directions while she’s down low and all around when she pops up like this and turns around a little.

    What became of Sugar #1?

And goody, another book coming in the near(?) future. I know you hinted what you were working on. Congratulations on finishing the manuscript.:bananadance:

What am I doing this weekend? Well, one of my friends is taking me to another friend’s birthday party though I know the parents of the celebrant better. She is a rather strange person and I think she’ll be quite lost without her parents when they are no longer there. But both parents are good cooks and bakers. I’m being awful , I know, but it is kind of hard to deal with her. I think my friend wants a way out by taking me along as well as being good to me by taking me somewhere where there’s good food.

Otherwise, I’ll just be doing what I normally do. For someone on disability one day is pretty much the same enlivened mainly by doctor’s appointments and the like.

P.S. I had a really nice few days last week at my sister’s place, including cows and their “waterfalls” as my brother-in-law and his grandson called them. There was also a 3-month-old heifer who went up against one of the bigger males. She hooked horns with him, though hers are barely visible at the moment (they’re shaggy brown Highland cattle and the first of the breed I can recall seeing). She’s a really feisty little thing but she won’t let humans touch her yet.

I think I’ve mentioned my great-niece’s first birthday party already. She sure got loads of presents and had about 40 people including almost a dozen under-10s dancing attendance on her. And she’s a sweetie too, though not as feisty as Saffron.

Well, anti social queen that I am, I am actually having a labor day barbecue. I think I need to get some meds or something.

You can come on over, if you want. :)

We don’t celebrate Labor Day here in Finland. This weekend I’m trying to translate a Japanese text and I’m going quietly nuts while I’m trying to do it.:wall: I really need a better kanji-dictionary…

Spiffing up a sub for a request…and maybe painting my office if all else goes well.

I think Spice is thinking, “What does a cat have to do to get on the web?”

What a sweet picture…Spice is expressing her natural cat’s curiosity it seems. She needs to check out everything that is in “her” (ha,ha!) home.
Nothing special planned for the holiday week-end. We are just going to relax and enjoy ourselves.

Hooray! The book is done! The cat must be thirsty for bottled water. I believe we are going to my folks house to cook out, if it doesn’t rain again, on Labor Day.

Looks like she is thinking: “Help!”

    or

“Ooh…I found a hiding place…now leave me alone!”

Not doing much this weekend…have a cold.

Spice might be playing Peek A Boo, LOL.
We went to see our 3 day old grand-daughter yesterday, got back and had a phone call that the other daughter-in-law gave birth to a son(our grandson).

That’s really too bad about Sugar#1. I missed seeing her on a picture of her siblings, though I think at that point I couldn’t tell Sugar from Spice.

Robyn, that’s really neat with your grand-children being so close together. I can say that I have two cousins that were born on the same day but they are not twins. Two of my uncles, well their wives (one each) were expecting children around the same time in Oct/Nov 1961, I believe. One lived in either Toronto or Montreal and the other lived in Winnipeg, MB where our family and the grandparents also lived. So my grandfather got word sometime on Nov. 2 that the Winnipeg baby was soon to be born. So we more or less all congregated at their place to wait with him. Then the younger uncle from the east also called to say that Mama had gone into labor. I’m not certain which one was born first, I think it was the little boy in Winnipeg, followed in less than an hour by a little girl in Montreal or Toronto and of course we had to drink a toast to the new babies and their parents. That was the last of five children for my uncle in Winnipeg and the third of four for my uncle in the East. He had another little girl about 15 months later after he was transferred to Germany. I’m not even sure if they’ve ever met and that is definitely kind of strange and sad. I should ask them or one of their parents if they have met or not. They could have met at our family reunion/80th birthday of my mother but but Jenny couldn’t make it though Markus was there.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
