Happy Fireworks Day!

Jul
4

Things to do today:

1. Grill the perfect burger.

2. Send a letter to any soldier.

3. See if you could pass the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service’s citizenship test. Try this one–

What are the 13 original states?
a) Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Zealand, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland.
b) Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland.
c) Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland.
d) Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland, Washington, D.C.

I’m pretty sure I could pick out the one with New Zealand as wrong…..but I’d just be guessing otherwise. Don’t tell the INS on me……

Have a great Fourth!

Happy July 4th from a “neighbour” in southeastern Ontario, Canada.

By the way, I have recently discovered Ms. McMinn’s books and this web site and am delighted with both. And yes, my copy of “Secrets Rising” is on its way! :-)

    I think we can eliminate D, too, because Washington D.C. wasn’t a state. :)

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
