Yesterday’s winner of their choice of either a PAX t-shirt, PAX mug, or PAX tote bag: comment #34—Danni! (Email me!) Just a few more days of the Extravasuzannza! Don’t miss it! We had a great holiday yesterday and I’ve posted some of the fireworks pictures here just for fun. There was some whining because in North Carolina, unlike when we lived in Texas, you aren’t allowed to set off personal fireworks that leave the ground. Our kids managed to have fun getting in touch with their inner pyromaniac anyway.
Psst–I’m giving away copies of The Honeymoon Man today. And The Beast Within should be everywhere! Let me know if you see it in your hometown bookstore!
Over six months ago I started my blog (the archives here only go back to February because I didn’t move over all of them when I switched blogging platforms a while back). When I started blogging I only knew a handful of people who had blogs, and now almost everyone I know has a blog! It’s a blog explosion in romanceland!
Through blogging, I’ve gotten to know writers, readers, reviewers, and booksellers across the country–and the world! When I started my blog, I thought it would be fun. I studied the blogs I could find and realized that the ones where the bloggers posted regularly and energetically were the most entertaining to me. Personally, I haven’t missed a day in six months except when we were away on vacation and this past weekend when I set up an entry with a contest to stand all weekend. Blogging is the first thing I do every day. It’s become part of my life, like my morning coffee. And all the blogs I visit have become part of my life, too. So thank you to all of you bloggers out there who entertain me every day with your blogs–and all of you who come here to visit me.
Today, as a thank-you to you, anyone who would like an autographed copy of my romantic comedy, The Honeymoon Man, leave a comment here then email me today with your address! If you don’t need a copy, please still let me know what you think about blogging–if you blog, or if you don’t.
The question of the day: If you have a blog, what inspired you to start your blog and do you enjoy blogging? How has blogging changed your life? If you don’t have a blog, have you ever thought about starting one? (For readers, there are a lot of wonderful reader blogs out there–here are just a few examples: Maili, Nicole, Alyssa, and Tara Marie.) Have you ever thought of starting a reader blog if you’re a reader?

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

I don’t have a blog and I know I never will. I can’t write and I have nothing to say that anyone would want to read. I love reading your blog and several others that are interesting and funny. I would love a copy of The Honeymoon Man. Thank you!

As for blogging, I just wanted my own personal space for putting down my reading and writing thoughts. Although I write less about reading as I read more blogs and ‘meet’ more authors.
I, too, like blogging almost every day, but I’m finding it harder in the summer time with all the distractions!

Cheryl, don’t feel greedy! I have so many boxes of my backlist books. I finally found a way to put them in the hands of readers after I got my blog, so I love to give them away! And I am really just a regular person, LOL! I’m that woman at the grocery store….wearing a PAX t-shirt.:hyper:

As a soon-to-be-pubbed author (January!) I like to read author blogs for insight on writing, publishing, reading and all the miscellenia of the writing life, but for inspiration for my own site/blog.
When the person who’s helping redesign my site asked for some author sites with looks I especially like, yours was right on the top of the list. Good colors, sets a tone, easy to read and navigate.

Have seen your thrilling book, The Beast Within, in all the stores around here, whether chain bookstore or discount store. And many of them were already sold!
Thanks for the wonderful offer of your older release. I really appreciate it!

I love to blog. I’ve met so many interesting people this year from the romance writing/reading world of bloggers.
And AnnaB is right. Your website is gorgeous and easy to navigate. And your menu buttons say what they actually LEAD to. Some websites have cutesy, clever words on their menu…and I can’t figure out where they’re taking me.. :fryingpan: I’m all for quick, easy, navigation on websites!

I started blogging after eading yours. It was so much fun tocome read what you’d been up to, and I spent so much time laughing over Church of Christ and your remodeling. I decided a blog would be my self-support system, adn it would force me to work on voice. AND it works as a positive reinforcement of sorts.Almost an affirmation.
I LOVE reading blogs, especially funny ones.
I have The Beast Within. Woo Hoo!

Thanks for mentioning my blog! I will celebrate my one-year blogging anniversary in two months. Most of the time, it’s no problem for me to come up with things to write about. It helps that I write about books I read. Well, sometimes I use it as a place to vent, too. People like variety, right?
The main way that blogging has changed my life is that it’s allowed me to “meet” so many wonderful people. I feel like the people who comment at my blog are friends, and the people whose blogs I visit are friends. I think it’s a wonderful way to interact with people, because you really get to know them as time passes.
I just checked out the description of Mr. Honeymoon Man, and I would love a copy! I love stories about childhood friends (or enemies!) getting together.

I used to write in a journal, but found blogging is a way I can keep friends and family up-to-date with my life and hopefully meet new people/writers.
I love your blog Suzanne, I would love a copy of Mr Honeymoon Man–I saw the Beast in Winnipeg yesterday–moved it to the front of the shelf

I feel so special when people comment and I’ve made so many “friends.” With a solitary profession like writing, it’s a great way to interact with people.
I think I probably spend way too much time reading blogs, but that’s not something I’m willing to give up yet!

I love participating in your blog and several others. It is nice to meet other people; I like that you include ‘every day’ and ‘down-to-earth’ situations in your blog as well as your books. Thanks.

As to blogging, uh…I do seem to have a lot to say on YOURS, but I’m not normally a chatty person and as for letters, I still owe a whole lot of people one from about ten years back when I visited all sorts of friends and relatives in Germany.
But it would be great if they all had computers and could chat with me in a blog. Using the Internet in Germany is an expensive proposition because even local phone calls cost a certain amount. So any use of the telephone wires would be expensive. I don’t know if they have any alternatives yet.
And no, I don’t have that book yet and I’d love it.
As Jill says, I think I get my people-contact here, too. That’s probably why my entries tend to be on the longer side. I don’t have much contact during a week. :rotfl:

Suzanne… I picked up The Beast Within at a Border’s Express in Hamilton Twp. NJ over the weekend. (Near Atlantic City.) Of course, I forgot that I’d also ordered it from BN.com! So now I’m passing on one of my copies to someone else.

We had a terrific fireworks display here last night, but since it was televised statewide, I didn’t fight the crown to see it in person, but watched it on TV. There were over 100,000 people in attendance, so I can imagine what the traffic was like.

I blog because… well I’m a really shy person but it’s a great outlet. I started blogging after a friend started hers and I loved it so much. I read a bunch of blogs, mainly authors and other writers blog, they usually inspire me to keep writing.

I don’t have a blog, but I only today thought about starting one. I would like to have a way to get in contact with friends from my old high school. I signed up at Classmates.com, but that only shows who has signed up. One must pay to contact anyone. It would be nice to have a place where we could make contact for free. I had a great time in high school and there are many friends I would love to hear from again.

Anna and Kacey, thank you for the compliments on my website! Of course I owe all of that to my designer, Emily at CiaoMyBella, so I must give her the credit!

I love blogging, because it helps me keep up to date on other people, especially those I can’t chat with as often as I’d like, and it gives others a chance to keep up with me, since anyone who knows me knows that I go a million miles an hour and don’t stop unless I crash.
I didn’t think I’d have enough to say to sustain one, but I think that’s proven to be the opposite.
And I would love a copy of Mr. Honeymoon Man, too.
Thanks for sharing your books!

I think its changed my life a little, I have a lot more contact with other writers (I tend to lurk more on some writers loops) it feels less intimidating to write a comment on someone’s blog then to jump in mid conversation in some places. And I’ve definitely made some good friends through blogging too :hyper:
Any more copies of The Honeymoon Man? The title alone makes me smile! hehe

It also makes me write everyday and that keeps my writing muscles in shape. I notice it’s a lot easier for me to sit down and work on my WIP now – the words flow much better.
I think there is also a genuine interest in how the writer works – and writer blogs give us a glimpse into that world.

Beth, I’m so glad you were inspired to start your own blog because I enjoy your blog!
Jeanette, you said something similar to what other readers said, but I bet you would have great reader blogs if you kept reading journals like Nicole does, for example. I bet you have more interesting things to say than you think! And authors LOVE to read reader blogs, so you are more fascinating than you know!

Suzanne, you were the very first person I didn’t already know to leave me a comment. I snoopy danced that someone who didn’t really have to…read it. Thank you for that. Definitely made an impact on keeping it going past the learning curve.

I blog just to keep a running list of what i read and if i feel the urge, write about what I’ve read. I was just writing down my books in a special notebook but this just seems to work a little better for me.
Ive seen “The Beast Within” at both Walmarts ive been to in the past week. I just havent picked it up yet. My book buying has become rampant. Ive been trying to cut back and just read what ive got on my TBR shelves. I’ve also got some library books from work i need to read.
As for my 4th, even though its illegal in NC to do “those” fireworks, Some friends at a party i went to had some on Sunday. I spent the weekend with my SO.

I started blogging because my husband kept telling me I should. And I finally realized it was a nifty thing to add to my website. I’m so glad I did, because I’ve met lots of interesting people and become introduced to many new-to-me authors I’d still be missing out on if I hadn’t! Blogging has been a great experience. I

I really enjoy reading your blog everyday! You’re so entertaining! Love the firework pictures…we live on a lake during the summer months and many of the other owners try to out do the others with beautiful dueling fireworks! I lead a pretty boring life, I doubt that anyone would stick with my blog!!
I’d love a copy of “THE HONEYMOON MAN”.

I started blogging last September, I think, and originally, I did it just because I was curious about blogging. Everybody talked about it, and I wanted to try it. Now it’s become a daily thing for me…to the point that if I can’t get to my computer during the day, I even audioblog!
Two of the best things I’ve discovered about blogging are 1) the people I’ve “met”, whether through comments they’ve left for me or by me reading other blogs, and 2) if I’m stuck, I just hop on my blog and freewrite. Eventually, the writing mood hits and I’m off and running on my story!

I’m rather sorry that many respondents believe they have nothing to say. Their responses to your previous entries say otherwise. Oh, well, I hope some day they will give it a try some day because, as you said, many of us would love to see more reader blogs.
Hm. This is a veddy late response. That’s the story of my life, being at a party that everyone’s already left. Oh, wait. Me all alone? Yay -
