I look my mother, I have the same values as my mother, but my mother doesn’t now when to say no and I do.

I am least like my mother because she is obsessive-compulsive about cleaning…and I am…NOT. She is the kind of lady who will be on her hands and knees scrubbing the corners of the linoleum. I am the kind of lady who will say…er…I suppose that linoleum really wasn’t green when we bought it. Maybe I should mop it. After I finish this next chapter, of course.

I am least like my Mom in that I stand up for myself. My mom tends to let others take over. Though I am a worrier I am not near as bad as my mom.

The way I’m least like my mom is that I always have a book in my hand. Mom could never understand how I could block everything else out while I was reading.

My mother’s a neat freak. I, on the other hand, don’t mind a little mess and I’m definitely a collector/horder!

I’m least like my mother in that I will never cut one of my kids out of our family for any reason, least of all because of a disagreement.

My Mom believes to “not rock the boat” and makes the comment “you will never be happy”. I’m selfish in thinking only *I* can make myself happy and I will do anything to make that happen except hurt people along the way. To follow your passion and your heart, and change your life always for the better. To be a better person and not be stuck on status quo.

My mother, God bless her soul, was congenitally neat. She tidied the house before the cleaning woman came each week. Mom, a nurse, made beds with crisp, perfectly creased hospital corners. Not only did I never learn to match her expertise in that skill, I never figured out why it was so important. I missed out on the ‘can’t stand clutter’ gene in my chromosome strands, too. Mom, if you’re reading over my shoulder from Heaven, it isn’t your fault! You tried to raise me to be a great housekeeper. The failing is my own. You taught me other things, however, like caring about friends and neighbors and doing nice things for no special reason other than to be nice.

I am least like my mother in that she has to clean almost everyday. I’m lucky if I do it once a month. And she’s an early riser, if I could I would wake up a 10 am everyday, not just on weekends.

Mom was always nice to everyone and liked to knit, I hate being nice to people all the time and go on strike and can’t knit. She always had supper on the table for dad when he got in and my hubby only gets that when I’m feeling generous!

In what ways am I like my mother is probably a better question… she’s career driven, remembers the name of every person she’s talked to, is obsessed with being the perfect mother as well and all well being well dressed and wearing makeup.

Me, I couldn’t care less what I look like, if it’s not comfortable I’m not going to wear it! Couldn’t remember the name of most of the people I’ve ever met (can’t even remember my own phone number), and I’m perfectly content to stay at home (feeding calves a couple hours a day) and raising my child.

I am least like my mom in that she loves to gossip and tell me stories about people that she thinks I know and I really dont get into the stories because I dont care or have time to listen, but I do because I love her.

Me and my mother were like night and day. She was a single mom and I am happily married. She had only one child and I had four, two beautiful daughers now married with children of their own and two teenage boys. My mother only raised me half of my life and I have never been away from my children. She did the best she could, but it is definitely harder for a single mom. She was also much more outgoing and I am more reserved and shy. One thing we both had in common though was reading. She taught me to love reading at a very young age and I have read all my life. That is probably the best thing she ever taught me.

I am least like my Mother in that I don’t save things like she does. She holds onto things that I would use and toss or give to someone who can use them. Growing up during the Depression, I guess you value anything you can get your hands on but that’s definitely not me. To me, less is more!

    Our personalities are completly different

    Hi Suzanne,

I am least like my mother in many ways. Two of them being I love my children unconditionally, and adore my beautiful grandchildren. I always told myself when I was younger, “I am NOT going to be like my mother”.:evil:

I am least like my mother in that I am open-minded and willing to learn about issues before forming a solid opinion. She is staunch in her opinions and unwilling to waver. It’s like talking to a wall sometimes.

I look eerily similar to my mother, and often people call and think they actually called my mother. However, I am very different from her in that she wwasn’t a very adventurous person and liked to stay home. I on the other hand, like to travel extensively and stay away from home.

Your box isn’t big enough for a complete answer
My mother and I are nothing alike, but I guess the biggest difference is that I look at what she did to me that I didn’t like it, and I do things differently with my kids. She looks at what her mother did to her that she didn’t like ……… and used that as justification for why it was OK to do that to her kids – but we’re still supposed to feel sorry for her that her mother did this stuff to her!

    Hi Suzanne,
I’d have to say that the biggest difference between my Mom and myself is that she loves to SHOP and eat out. I absolutely hate both!! Shopping gives me an instant headache. Hope you’re able to relax and enjoy Mother’s Day with your family!!

My mom and I are very similar and very different at the same time. I am very absent-minded and a terrible procastrinator, so I’m usually late. My mom on the contrary is more focused and get things done on schedule. I wish I were more like her, but can’t help it :? ??: I have tried!

I am least like my mother in several ways. She likes to complain a lot and I am stuck listening. I don’t comoplain because she will always tell me how heres is worse.

  59. 5-3
    9:42
    pm

I am least like my mother since I haven’t passed. Seriously now, no disrespect, I miss mother very much. She lived through very lean times and I believe her extreme necessary frugalness ‘dented’ her for life. Not me! I can throw that used aluminum foil away after using only once! I can take a trip any time of the year without packing my own coffee or worrying that ‘changing beds’ would cause me to catch a cold. Bet you never heard that one before. On the other hand she was always there for when I or my children needed her… if we lived close enough to her she didn’t have to ‘get ready’ to go anywhere anytime too soon… which was almost impossible for her to do. We teased her that when Jesus Christ came for she’d tell Him: “Just a minute, I’ve got to mop the floor!

Oh my mom and I are so alike! One way that we are really different though (probably the biggest difference) is that for me, a good steamy romance can enhance my love life with my DH, for my mom it detracts. Again, LOL I just don’t get it.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
