The answer is #2, I hit a deer! ACK! I love deer. They’re all over the place here. Sometimes I have to stop three or four times on a ten-minute drive in the evening to let deer cross the road. This time, I couldn’t stop in time. I was lucky, though–I managed to slow down enough that there was no damage to my car. I can only hope the deer was okay….. There was no real damage to my car from the accident in Wal-Mart parking lot, either. I must have a really good bumper….
So, thinking car trouble comes in three and my troubles are over, we’re heading a couple hours away today to go snowtubing!! Nobody say break a leg, okay?

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
