So what are you doing for vacation? I’ve got a new vacation poll up (in the sidebar) but tell me more! Where are you going? What are you doing?
We’re doing Ocracoke Island next week, and in the fall we’ve got a house for a week on Carova Beach (both are in the Outer Banks of North Carolina), and we’re also going to West Virginia where my family has an old farmhouse back in the holler. (Really. In the holler. We’ll eat fried squirrel and drink out of the still and scratch ourselves. Okay, just kidding. About the fried squirrel. They eat groundhog there.) We didn’t go on vacation at all last summer because we were still trying to sell our old house in Texas and we were paying two mortgages and trying to stay above water. Happily, this year is better so we’re making up for it.
What about you?

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

Before then, my older nephew is spending the month of July with me here in the Keys. He’ll volunteer at the dolphin facility while I work. I can’t wait!

That seems to be the master plan.
HOWEVER, next year, when my van is paid off, and I will see some revenue from my work, we’ll be going to San Antonio again. Oh, and did I mention that the EPIC conference will be the same week? Heh

This year we’re going to Estes Park, CO for a week with my parents, who are treating us to free lodging. Can’t beat that. :bananadance:
The Outer Banks is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. Enjoy!

I’m hoping to take a few days and go to a Shakespearean festival that’s about a four-hour drive away. This particular one does spectacular performances of the plays each summer. I’ll probably go in August.

On the drive back, we’re stopping by our property in Wyoming, just to look at it and dream. The drive’s gonna be horrendous, but I’m hoping to see lots of parts of the country that I’ve never seen before. :hyper:
And I’m taking lots of pictures.

We visited relatives, visited friends, shopped in London, stayed in a caravan, visited seaside towns and villages, visited historic sites and watched Cricket.
That do ya? :bananadance:

Amy, I love Estes park. It’s only about 45 minutes from us, but I never get up there as often as I’d like.
Sadly, our vacation plans consist of Reno, and that’s it. That whole starting a new business thing, totally takes away any vacation fund we might have thought of.
