Technical Difficulties

May
20

I never miss a day, so I hate to! My laptop is not working. If I have to buy another one, just shoot me. Writing this from another computer–I have no pictures, nothing, all my files are on my laptop. Wish me luck getting it working again.

Until then–

Oh, bother! What a mess. I do hope it is resolved soonest. Maybe you could threaten that laptop with your rooster-broom?

Good Luck! I’ve been there and life kinda stops until it’s a 100% again. Of course I would recommend a Mac. :-)

I really hate technical difficulties, too! This technology is so helpful and so hateful all in the same breath…….hope things can be recovered and doesn’t create that headache, you know the one!

None of us are immune to the technological issues that happen from time to time. I have three computers of which 2 are lap tops. Keeping my pictures on flickr.com helps me have access to them all the time and allows me to share on my site anytime. Do you have a flickr.com account?

Bummer. Hope you are not gone for long. :( I hate it when the computer breaks. Just kind of upsets the whole day or week. Depending on how long it takes to get the darn thing fixed.

I hope this doesn’t post twice (my Internet connection dropped in the middle of posting it, so I’m trying again).

Suzanne, you have my sympathy. Nothing messes with my day like a computer meltdown.

When you get up and running, consider getting an external hard drive. They’ve become a lot cheaper, smaller and if you back up your photos and files on it every day (which only takes seconds), you can plug that puppy into any computer and instantly have your stuff at your fingertips.

Best wishes on getting up and running again.

Oh My! Been there done that too!

I echo Myrna who suggested an external hard drive. Many come with ‘back up’ software, but even if you just copy your most important files including pictures etc, if not the whole ‘back up’ procedure, you will have that much in two places. I keep mine unplugged from my main computer most of the time, so it’s not running constatantly and not vulnerable to viruses and snoopers etc. I just plug it in when I want to copy things. Even if you only do it once a week, it means you’d only lose a weeks worth of pictures if your laptop totally fried.

Always good to keep duplicate sets of all that stuff, one on laptop, one on seperate drive.

Good luck Suzanne and stay strong! …I would check on whether or not the mean rooster was pecking around the keyboard too though.

    Susan,

If you need assitance call 304-641-5618. This is my husband Ken. He has a small computer repair business. He can often walk people through the problem on the phone.

Good luck. Honestly Suzanne, if you need to buy a new one, bite the bullet and get an Apple. They’re expensive but I thought about how many computers that had bit the dust on me and when I added it all up I realized that I should have bought the Apple in the first place. I’ve switched from a PC and never looked back.

What’s with these computers? Why do they crash? That’s my question. Here’s hoping it’s something simple and fixable.

Perhaps mean rooster is really the “Godfather” and had someone take out the lap top. After all, there’s been a lot of “frying” talk going on here, lol.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. It is so frustrating to have your lifeline closed down without any warning. I hope it is just a small glitch rather than you needing a new laptop.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
