Weekend Three-Word Story

Jul
2

:bananadance: First, I want to thank everyone who introduced me to your beloved pets–the stories were touching and funny and I LOVED reading every one of them!! Now–yesterday’s winner of the PAX tote bag: comment #41–Saundra! (Email me!) I have a prizepalooza for this weekend!! Multiple prizes!!! And don’t forget, the “Extravasuzannza” celebrating The Beast Within (psst! in stores now! read an excerpt here) continues with prizes every day through July 8th!

And as mentioned previously, for those of you with your own blogs, if you read The Beast Within and I catch you talking about it on your blog, I’ll highlight your blog here and send you your pick from my backlist! Today–two catches! Both of these discussions include some really funny remarks, so be sure to check them out. I love reading the variety of perspectives on the book!

Here’s what Danni from Adventures in Ordinary Life has to say about The Beast Within: “The heroine in this book (Paige) doesn’t EVER punk out! She’s a really strong woman who earns her respect throughout the book. I don’t do reviews, but I will comment on a few things that really struck a chord with me. I think this is her first para, and she really manages to add it in without beating you over the head with it. I won’t talk about plot, b/c I’m not the type to talk around it without giving it all away. I will mention the moment that I fell in love with Keiran. B/c of his accident, he is losing the ability to see green and red. The first time he drives he realizes what a problem this will be, and soon after confides in Paige…..The Beast Within accomplishes one of my highest set requirements. I really believed Paige and Keiran could be together forever, and NOT just because the epilogue told me so.” Read Danni’s entire discussion of The Beast Within here.

And, from Emily at Emma’s Ramblings! “How awesome is the PAX blurb. ‘Paranormal Allied eXperts — genetically enhanced superagents leading the world into a new era of defense.’ I dare anyone not to read those books! And Holy Tortured Hero, Batman! I just wanted to reach through the pages and give Kieran a hug (not that he would’ve let me).” Read Emilys entire discussion of The Beast Within here.

(Danni and Emily–email me with your picks from my backlist!)

Now for the weekend prizepalooza! Saturday’s prize–a PAX t-shirt, and Sunday’s prize–another PAX tote bag! Plus!!! Five autographed backlist books on Saturday and five autographed backlist books on Sunday!

The game: Three-Word Story. How it works: I start the story with three words. Follow up with three words at a time of your own to continue the story! Participate as often as you like both Saturday and Sunday but not twice in a row. In the case of simultaneous comments, just pick which one to follow up on and go on with the story. Winners will be chosen by drawing and the more often you play, the more chances you have to win! Winners will be announced in Monday’s blog–and I have something special planned for July 4th, so please plan to stop by!

And now, the Weekend Three-Word Story to be continued through Sunday (let’s make it a PAX story!):

The sexy merman………..

  32. 7-2
    10:28
    am

    gorgeous woman pirate

  33. 7-2
    10:32
    am

    10:48
    am

    to be rescued

  38. 7-2
    10:50
    am

    from the pirate

  39. 7-2
    10:52
    am

    leering at her

  40. 7-2
    10:52
    am

    with hot lust

  41. 7-2
    11:11
    am

    she opens her

  42. 7-2
    11:14
    am

    mouth and yells,

  43. 7-2
    11:18
    am

    HELP ME PLEASE!

  44. 7-2
    11:20
    am

    I need you!

  45. 7-2
    11:21
    am

    I’m so afraid!

  46. 7-2
    11:22
    am

    The merman lunged

  47. 7-2
    11:23
    am

    directly towards her

  48. 7-2
    11:24
    am

    snatching her from

  49. 7-2
    11:26
    am

    the hands of

  50. 7-2
    11:29
    am

    her pirate. She

  51. 7-2
    11:36
    am

    saw the merman

  52. 7-2
    11:41
    am

    raise his sword

  53. 7-2
    11:42
    am

    and cut off

  54. 7-2
    11:44
    am

    the pirate’s hand.

  55. 7-2
    11:45
    am

    Then the merman

  56. 7-2
    11:48
    am

    grabbed her by

  57. 7-2
    11:50
    am

    her shaking hand

  58. 7-2
    11:54
    am

    and embraced her

  59. 7-2
    11:56
    am

    and told her

  60. 7-2
    11:57
    am

    that he would

  61. 7-2
    11:58
    am

    never let her

  62. 7-2
    12:12
    pm

    suffer or hurt

  63. 7-2
    12:13
    pm

    because she was

  64. 7-2
    12:15
    pm

    going to be

  65. 7-2
    12:35
    pm

    his mermaid queen

  66. 7-2
    12:38
    pm

    and have his

  67. 7-2
    12:47
    pm

    adorable love child

  68. 7-2
    12:48
    pm

    and live forever

  69. 7-2
    12:50
    pm

    under the sea

  70. 7-2
    1:00
    pm

    with me and

  71. 7-2
    1:09
    pm

    no one else

  72. 7-2
    1:11
    pm

    forever and ever

  73. 7-2
    1:11
    pm

    She recoiled away

  74. 7-2
    1:13
    pm

    at the thought

  75. 7-2
    1:14
    pm

    because she couldn’t

  76. 7-2
    1:17
    pm

    live under water

  77. 7-2
    1:21
    pm

    and so she

  78. 7-2
    1:25
    pm

    started to cry

  79. 7-2
    1:27
    pm

    He brought her

  80. 7-2
    1:30
    pm

    to the shore

  81. 7-2
    1:38
    pm

    where he kissed

  82. 7-2
    1:40
    pm

    her fears away

  83. 7-2
    1:41
    pm

    She kissed him

  84. 7-2
    1:48
    pm

    back slow and

  85. 7-2
    1:54
    pm

    tender until he

  86. 7-2
    2:13
    pm

    said that he

  87. 7-2
    2:20
    pm

    wanted more and

  88. 7-2
    2:26
    pm

    that confused her

  89. 7-2
    2:27
    pm

    She wasn’t sure

  90. 7-2
    2:29
    pm

    if she should

  91. 7-2
    2:40
    pm

    give him everything

  92. 7-2
    2:43
    pm

    because he might

  93. 7-2
    2:45
    pm

    not be anatomically

  94. 7-2
    2:47
    pm

    correct because he

  95. 7-2
    2:48
    pm

    shatter her heart

  96. 7-2
    2:53
    pm

    She pulled away

  97. 7-2
    2:53
    pm

    when she thought

  98. 7-2
    3:08
    pm

    he didn’t like

  99. 7-2
    3:15
    pm

    how she felt

  100. 7-2
    3:17
    pm

    so he said

  101. 7-2
    3:19
    pm

    “I promise you”

  102. 7-2
    3:20
    pm

    I love you!

  103. 7-2
    3:26
    pm

    And she said

  104. 7-2
    3:29
    pm

    Then prove it!

  105. 7-2
    3:37
    pm

    had to pee.

No, seriously. The first line of my YA L.O.S.T. is “It all happened because I had to pee.”
    :D

  106. 7-2
    3:37
    pm

    He showed her

  107. 7-2
    3:38
    pm

    He smiled and

  108. 7-2
    3:38
    pm

    Show me how

  109. 7-2
    3:39
    pm

    she smiled, too!

  110. 7-2
    3:41
    pm

    so he went

  111. 7-2
    3:42
    pm

    to get her

  112. 7-2
    3:42
    pm

    deep in to

  113. 7-2
    3:51
    pm

    the water and

  114. 7-2
    3:52
    pm

    and brought back

  115. 7-2
    4:05
    pm

    a diamond ring

  116. 7-2
    4:09
    pm

    with emeralds and rubies

  117. 7-2
    4:13
    pm

    When she saw

  118. 7-2
    4:17
    pm

    he was serious

  119. 7-2
    4:20
    pm

    She said, “I

  120. 7-2
    4:24
    pm

    still can’t live

  121. 7-2
    4:26
    pm

    am so confused

  122. 7-2
    4:29
    pm

    so where will

  123. 7-2
    4:29
    pm

    beneath the sea

  124. 7-2
    4:30
    pm

    underwater, so what

  125. 7-2
    4:30
    pm

    Suddenly! From nowhere

  126. 7-2
    4:32
    pm

    a gun shot

  127. 7-2
    4:33
    pm

    the merman fell

  128. 7-2
    4:38
    pm

    and she screamed

  129. 7-2
    4:42
    pm

    “Take me now!”

  130. 7-2
    4:43
    pm

    below the sea

  131. 7-2
    4:46
    pm

    Alas, the merman

  132. 7-2
    4:47
    pm

    and she grabbed

  133. 7-2
    4:48
    pm

    his long sword

  134. 7-2
    4:49
    pm

    could not oblige

  135. 7-2
    4:51
    pm

(Oops! “could not oblige” was meant to follow “alas, the merman”, so just disregard.)

  136. 7-2
    4:51
    pm

    as he died

  137. 7-2
    4:53
    pm

    and cried out

  138. 7-2
    4:54
    pm

    You are cursed!

  139. 7-2
    4:55
    pm

    forever you fiend

  140. 7-2
    4:57
    pm

    and transformed into

  141. 7-2
    4:59
    pm

    a beautiful mermaid

  142. 7-2
    5:00
    pm

    and stabbed him

  143. 7-2
    5:01
    pm

    and then kissed

  144. 7-2
    5:03
    pm

    his cold lips

  145. 7-2
    5:03
    pm

    and he awoke

  146. 7-2
    5:04
    pm

    as she uttered

  147. 7-2
    5:05
    pm

    she loved him

  148. 7-2
    5:06
    pm

    and that she

  149. 7-2
    5:07
    pm

    would live under

  150. 7-2
    5:07
    pm

    the sea since

  151. 7-2
    5:08
    pm

    she had become

  152. 7-2
    5:08
    pm

    his after breaking

  153. 7-2
    5:11
    pm

    the magic spell

  154. 7-2
    5:12
    pm

    with her enchanted

  155. 7-2
    5:14
    pm

    red ruby shoes

  156. 7-2
    5:17
    pm

    and magic knife

  157. 7-2
    5:19
    pm

    and they both

  158. 7-2
    5:19
    pm

    shivered in anticipation

  159. 7-2
    5:20
    pm

    of their future

  160. 7-2
    5:22
    pm

    of breaking curses

  161. 7-2
    5:23
    pm

    and making love

  162. 7-2
    5:26
    pm

    All at once,

  163. 7-2
    5:28
    pm

    a genie appeared

  164. 7-2
    5:29
    pm

    wickedly grinning at

  165. 7-2
    5:29
    pm

    the mermaid and

  166. 7-2
    5:30
    pm

    changed her back

  167. 7-2
    5:31
    pm

    the beautiful princess

  168. 7-2
    5:32
    pm

    fled the scene

  169. 7-2
    5:33
    pm

    looking for escape

  170. 7-2
    5:33
    pm

    The merman disappeared

  171. 7-2
    5:34
    pm

    In his place

  172. 7-2
    5:36
    pm

    the smiling genie

  173. 7-2
    5:36
    pm

    beneath the sea

  174. 7-2
    5:36
    pm

    became a handsome

  175. 7-2
    5:38
    pm

    pure white stallion

  176. 7-2
    5:38
    pm

    that ran after

  177. 7-2
    5:39
    pm

    the fleeing princess

  178. 7-2
    5:42
    pm

    and caught her

  179. 7-2
    5:44
    pm

    as she fell

  180. 7-2
    5:45
    pm

    off a cliff

  181. 7-2
    5:51
    pm

    With shaking arms

  182. 7-2
    5:52
    pm

    she grabbed him

  183. 7-2
    6:16
    pm

    but she slipped

  184. 7-2
    6:38
    pm

    into his arms

  185. 7-2
    7:12
    pm

    She looked away

  186. 7-2
    7:12
    pm

    They both fell

  187. 7-2
    7:15
    pm

    Their eyes locked

  188. 7-2
    7:18
    pm

    on wooden planks

  189. 7-2
    7:18
    pm

    as they landed

  190. 7-2
    7:18
    pm

    For a horse

  191. 7-2
    7:21
    pm

    That Carol bought

  192. 7-2
    7:21
    pm

    at the ranch

  193. 7-2
    7:21
    pm

    And Teresa sold.

  194. 7-2
    7:24
    pm

    LOL

    For a fortune

  195. 7-2
    7:24
    pm

    The sun was

  196. 7-2
    7:26
    pm

    covered with clouds

  197. 7-2
    7:28
    pm

    as they walked

  198. 7-2
    7:28
    pm

    quickly by the

  199. 7-2
    7:29
    pm

    toward the sunset

  200. 7-2
    7:29
    pm

    hand in hand.

  201. 7-2
    7:31
    pm

    as lovers do.

  202. 7-2
    7:31
    pm

    The genie reappeared

  203. 7-2
    7:33
    pm

    and cursed them

  204. 7-2
    7:35
    pm

    for all eternity

  205. 7-2
    7:37
    pm

    They disappeared into

  206. 7-2
    7:41
    pm

    a parallel universe

  207. 7-2
    7:41
    pm

    a fog of

  208. 7-2
    7:42
    pm

    into a house

  209. 7-2
    7:43
    pm

    black mist surrounded

  210. 7-2
    7:45
    pm

    trees and mountains

  211. 7-2
    7:46
    pm

    where everything was

  212. 7-2
    7:47
    pm

    very, very tiny

  213. 7-2
    7:48
    pm

    and smelled like

  214. 7-2
    7:48
    pm

    except for the

  215. 7-2
    7:52
    pm

    very large insects

  216. 7-2
    7:52
    pm

    which scampered everywhere

  217. 7-2
    7:55
    pm

    even on people

  218. 7-2
    7:55
    pm

    which caused screaming

  219. 7-2
    7:57
    pm

    and moaning and

  220. 7-2
    7:58
    pm

    itching and scratching

  221. 7-2
    7:59
    pm

    and crying out

  222. 7-2
    7:59
    pm

    Then they disappeared

  223. 7-2
    8:00
    pm

(you guys are cracking me up!)

  224. 7-2
    8:04
    pm

    then they reappeared

  225. 7-2
    8:05
    pm

    We are having fun!

  226. 7-2
    8:06
    pm

    in the middle

  227. 7-2
    8:12
    pm

    of a raging

  228. 7-2
    8:13
    pm

    forest fire that

  229. 7-2
    8:13
    pm

    The super agents

  230. 7-2
    8:14
    pm

    had purposely set

  231. 7-2
    8:17
    pm

    to capture them.

  232. 7-2
    8:18
    pm

    Will it work?

  233. 7-2
    8:21
    pm

    They escaped by

  234. 7-2
    8:22
    pm

    weaving and snaking

  235. 7-2
    8:29
    pm

    through the trees

  236. 7-2
    8:30
    pm

    crying and sputtering

  237. 7-2
    8:33
    pm

    You Can’t Catch

  238. 7-2
    8:34
    pm

    Us Ha Ha

  239. 7-2
    8:35
    pm

    then the wind

  240. 7-2
    8:40
    pm

    got much stronger

  241. 7-2
    8:41
    pm

    the skies darkened

  242. 7-2
    8:41
    pm

    and whipped them

  243. 7-2
    8:41
    pm

    mercilessly and they

  244. 7-2
    8:43
    pm

    fell to their

  245. 7-2
    8:43
    pm

    knees and wept.

  246. 7-2
    8:44
    pm

    The good fairy

  247. 7-2
    8:45
    pm

    kissed their foreheads

  248. 7-2
    8:46
    pm

    and whisked them

  249. 7-2
    8:46
    pm

    waved her wand

  250. 7-2
    8:50
    pm

    They found themselves

  251. 7-2
    8:51
    pm

    locked in a

  252. 7-2
    8:51
    pm

    book of Suzanne’s!

  253. 7-2
    8:56
    pm

    They were thrilled!

  254. 7-2
    8:57
    pm

    Then someone turned

  255. 7-2
    8:58
    pm

    the book upside

  256. 7-2
    8:58
    pm

    the page and

  257. 7-2
    8:58
    pm

    down and out

  258. 7-2
    9:00
    pm

    they fell out!

  259. 7-2
    9:01
    pm

    Oh good Lord!

  260. 7-2
    9:02
    pm

    They looked around

  261. 7-2
    9:02
    pm

    and were surprised

  262. 7-2
    9:08
    pm

    and excited about

  263. 7-2
    9:08
    pm

    It was Disneyland!

  264. 7-2
    9:12
    pm

    Finally we can

  265. 7-2
    9:12
    pm

    have some fun!

  266. 7-2
    9:18
    pm

    Hand in hand

  267. 7-2
    9:20
    pm

    they strolled along

  268. 7-2
    9:20
    pm

    into the sunset

  269. 7-2
    9:26
    pm

    smiling at eachother

  270. 7-2
    9:31
    pm

    the parade’s starting!

  271. 7-2
    9:32
    pm

    We’d better hurry

  272. 7-2
    9:39
    pm

    to the rides

  273. 7-2
    9:43
    pm

    or else we

  274. 7-2
    9:58
    pm

    will be late

  275. 7-2
    10:01
    pm

    She put her

  276. 7-2
    10:01
    pm

    because we have

  277. 7-2
    10:03
    pm

    wasted too much

  278. 7-2
    10:07
    pm

    time walking around.

  279. 7-2
    10:09
    pm

    doing nothing much

  280. 7-2
    10:13
    pm

    but hunger pangs

  281. 7-2
    10:17
    pm

    Suddenly she was

  282. 7-2
    10:26
    pm

    struck with emotion

  283. 7-2
    10:41
    pm

    “There’s Mickey Mouse!”

  284. 7-2
    11:12
    pm

    with Cinderella and

  285. 7-2
    11:17
    pm

    Donald Duck, too.

  286. 7-2
    11:23
    pm

    Yay! Picture time!

  287. 7-2
    11:35
    pm

    But no camera

  288. 7-2
    11:38
    pm

    with the little

  289. 7-2
    11:43
    pm

    intelligence she had

  290. 7-3
    12:04
    am

    would help her

  291. 7-3
    1:41
    am

    whipping out her

  292. 7-3
    2:25
    am

    enchanted golden saber

  293. 7-3
    6:36
    am

    and swinging it

  294. 7-3
    7:35
    am

    Escaped to Bali!

  295. 7-3
    8:00
    am

    What adventure awaits?

  296. 7-3
    8:11
    am

    Breathtaking azure waters

  297. 7-3
    8:37
    am

    meet the horizon

  298. 7-3
    9:13
    am

    towards unkown lands

  299. 7-3
    10:10
    am

    where they could

  300. 7-3
    10:32
    am

    live and love

  301. 7-3
    10:38
    am

    each other now

  302. 7-3
    11:02
    am

    planning a future

  303. 7-3
    11:13
    am

    Genie found them!!

  304. 7-3
    11:34
    am

    Genie was lost

  305. 7-3
    12:37
    pm

    without his lamp

  306. 7-3
    12:50
    pm

    lighting the way

  307. 7-3
    12:57
    pm

    to new exciting

  308. 7-3
    1:03
    pm

    and unfamiliar places

  309. 7-3
    1:04
    pm

    never seen before

  310. 7-3
    1:10
    pm

    A mile along

  311. 7-3
    1:28
    pm

    a secluded cabin

  312. 7-3
    1:29
    pm

    surrounded by trees

  313. 7-3
    1:30
    pm

    beckoned the couple

  314. 7-3
    1:37
    pm

    to enter and

  315. 7-3
    1:40
    pm

    pause a bit

  316. 7-3
    1:45
    pm

    what they saw

  317. 7-3
    1:46
    pm

    granting three wishes

  318. 7-3
    1:47
    pm

    was a surprise

  319. 7-3
    1:48
    pm

    the room was

  320. 7-3
    1:50
    pm

    smaller than expected

  321. 7-3
    1:50
    pm

    painted purple paisley

  322. 7-3
    1:51
    pm

    rather strange indeed

  323. 7-3
    1:52
    pm

    with sex toys

  324. 7-3
    1:53
    pm

    with a bed.

  325. 7-3
    1:53
    pm

    a greater surprise

  326. 7-3
    1:55
    pm

    The patchwork quilt

  327. 7-3
    1:56
    pm

    was colored ambergris

  328. 7-3
    2:09
    pm

    it was inviting

  329. 7-3
    2:12
    pm

    come lay down

  330. 7-3
    2:18
    pm

    and rest awhile.

  331. 7-3
    2:26
    pm

    The bed transformed

  332. 7-3
    2:27
    pm

    into something quite

  333. 7-3
    2:34
    pm

    fantastic and magical

  334. 7-3
    2:35
    pm

    a magic carpet!

  335. 7-3
    2:40
    pm

    The carpet was

  336. 7-3
    2:47
    pm

    ready to fly

  337. 7-3
    2:52
    pm

    they jumped on

  338. 7-3
    3:03
    pm

    flying to magical

  339. 7-3
    3:06
    pm

    cities where they

  340. 7-3
    3:11
    pm

    watched silently as

  341. 7-3
    3:15
    pm

    the sun set.

  342. 7-3
    3:16
    pm

    Then they kissed

  343. 7-3
    3:17
    pm

    the city lights

  344. 7-3
    3:23
    pm

    and made love

(C’mon, people, they need some action! They’ve been through a lot so far.)

  345. 7-3
    3:25
    pm

    with wild passion

  346. 7-3
    3:27
    pm

    and with joy

  347. 7-3
    3:30
    pm

    it left them

  348. 7-3
    3:34
    pm

    happy and sated

  349. 7-3
    3:40
    pm

    and surprisingly, pregnant!

  350. 7-3
    3:45
    pm

    her belly was

  351. 7-3
    3:48
    pm

    full of life

  352. 7-3
    3:50
    pm

    and getting bigger

  353. 7-3
    3:53
    pm

    “Does this mean

  354. 7-3
    4:03
    pm

    there’s more than

  355. 7-3
    4:05
    pm

    one love child?

  356. 7-3
    4:27
    pm

    Will she go

  357. 7-3
    4:27
    pm

    OH NO! Quintuplets!:rotfl:

  358. 7-3
    5:09
    pm

    she was overwhelmed

  359. 7-3
    5:16
    pm

    and fainted when

  360. 7-3
    5:31
    pm

    the doctor told

  361. 7-3
    5:34
    pm

    them the news

  362. 7-3
    5:48
    pm

    She didn’t know

  363. 7-3
    5:54
    pm

    what to think

  364. 7-3
    6:12
    pm

    but was very

  365. 7-3
    6:14
    pm

    bemused while he

  366. 7-3
    6:21
    pm

    Hit the floor

  367. 7-3
    6:24
    pm

    after hearing about

  368. 7-3
    7:05
    pm

    the cost involved

  369. 7-3
    8:02
    pm

    How would he

  370. 7-3
    8:22
    pm

    be able to

  371. 7-3
    8:40
    pm

    go back to

  372. 7-3
    8:45
    pm

    the spy business

  373. 7-3
    8:48
    pm

    if she was

  374. 7-3
    9:04
    pm

    going to have

  375. 7-3
    9:09
    pm

    so many babies!

  376. 7-3
    9:10
    pm

    to interview nannies??

  377. 7-3
    9:28
    pm

    To the rescue

  378. 7-3
    9:31
    pm

    comes her mom

  379. 7-3
    10:02
    pm

    who will help

  380. 7-3
    10:05
    pm

    with the babies

  381. 7-3
    10:28
    pm

    while her dad

  382. 7-3
    10:33
    pm

    will keep the

  383. 7-3
    10:39
    pm

    neighbors from making

  384. 7-3
    11:05
    pm

    a stink about

  385. 7-3
    11:05
    pm

    too much noise

  386. 7-3
    11:07
    pm

    too much noise

  387. 7-3
    11:12
    pm

    Suddenly, the phone

  388. 7-3
    11:19
    pm

    rang shrilly. It

  389. 7-3
    11:26
    pm

    was the neighbors

  390. 7-3
    11:48
    pm

    wanting to know

  391. 7-3
    11:50
    pm

    if they could

  392. 7-3
    11:55
    pm

    borrow some sugar

  393. 7-3
    11:57
    pm

    to bake a

  394. 7-4
    12:02
    am

    cake to celebrate

  395. 7-4
    12:05
    am

    their doggy’s birthday

  396. 7-4
    12:12
    am

    They said no

  397. 7-4
    12:15
    am

    but you can

  398. 7-4
    12:22
    am

    buy cake instead.

  399. 7-4
    12:32
    am

    or banana bread. :bananadance:

  400. 7-4
    12:37
    am

    Our happy couple

  401. 7-4
    12:42
    am

    now was faced

  402. 7-4
    12:44
    am

    with time alone

  403. 7-4
    1:00
    am

    to consider the

  404. 7-4
    1:20
    am

    possibilities, and the

  405. 7-4
    1:33
    am

    busy future ahead.

  406. 7-4
    2:04
    am

    Once the initial

  407. 7-4
    2:23
    am

    shock wore off

  408. 7-4
    2:48
    am

    they realized that

  409. 7-4
    3:24
    am

    things were getting

  410. 7-4
    3:26
    am

    more and more

  411. 7-4
    4:02
    am

    complicated. Just then

  412. 7-4
    4:56
    am

    his commander arrived

  413. 7-4
    7:25
    am

    and ordered him

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
