A Shipping Funny

Biscuits and scones fresh-baked this morning and ready to go out for an order.

I bake and ship Mondays-Thursdays. One day last week, I baked a batch of muffins, a gift order for a granddaughter at college in Texas. When I ship, my return address says Chickens in the Road….. Here is a note I received from the grandmother who ordered the gift after her granddaughter received her package.

Muffins arrived Wed. 29th My college granddaughter said they were delish. Thought you would appreciate note in her mailbox said for her to come to mail room to pick up a package of live poultry. This city girl, though a biology major, freaked out; was afraid to open it inside so took it outside on the sorority lawn and carefully opened. Luckily no chickens. In Texas they must literally think there are chickens in the road. Thank you for a good product and a good laugh.

I thought that was so funny….. By the way! This is a great time of year to send something to the college student in your life! A one-time gift, or even a club gift of a shipment every month for 3 months, 6 months, or a year. You can see everything in my Etsy shop here.

If you’re interested in a gift club subscription, it’s available in cookies, fudge, biscuits, muffins, scones, or variety treats. You can see all the club subscription options that are available here!

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
