Always A Good Day for Ducks

Apr

Ducks love rain.

The other day, I was watching an Alton Brown “Good Eats” episode about cooking duck and he was talking about the fat in ducks, which is related to why they can float in water, then mentioned the funny thing about that is that ducks hate rain.

I was like….WHAT?! Clearly, Alton has never had ducks. THEY LOVE RAIN.

I still love Alton Brown. But he needs to stick to cooking tips, not duck behavior!

Just goes to show you, that if you’re an expert in one field you may not be one in another. When it rains here in IL, the ducks at the pond are the ones out swimming.

Our ducks loved the rain today! They just moved outside finally. (yay)

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
