Mine think snow is nuclear fallout. They’ll stay inside for weeks to avoid it.

    That’s a great picture!
Your staff need little snow boots :chicken:

I THINK KERRI HAS THE RIGHT IDEA…LITTLE SNOW BOOTS FOR THE FLUFFY BUTT STAFF AND YOU CAN KNIT THEM, SUZANNE!
SO GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAVE COME THROUGH THE WINTER TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS….AT LEAST THE FIRST OF THEM. AND CHRISTMAS WAS EVERYTHING ANYONE COULD HOPE FOR….WARM, WITH FOOD AND WITH FAMILY.
YOU ARE BLESSED AS WE ALL ARE.

What’s with the snow? Mine run around on the icy litter with no problem. But, let a little snow fall and they just stand there and look at it?? You’d think it was poison or something! Once in a while, one will get brave and walk out on it but that lasts for about one minute then it’s a race back to the bare spots. My “staff” reacts the same way!

  5. shirley says:

They think it’s the great chicken God, commanding them to get back in the house and lay that egg!

  6. Elizabeth says:

This is the first year we’ve had chickens, so I kind of thought that was just our chickens who were unwilling to walk out in the snow! Glad to know chickens are just like that. Ours have a little insulated mini coop inside a bigger coop, so I think they feel like they go outside during the day anyway.

It is 9* here and my girls want out they don’t care. There pretty little combs are getting frost bit. We have had snow for a while and they are ok with that too. Chicken tracks in the snow are pretty cute.
