It’s cold and gray today. The Giant Puppy has been using the winter farming lull to work with Casper. Casper’s growing up now–he’ll be two this year. Time to stop chewing on trash and start working!
Oh, well, never mind.
Some things are best left to the Giant Pup.
I’ve got a busy weekend coming up, but my internet is back on track and I’ll be back to my barn tour asap. My cousin’s wife is singing in a local community program, so I get to go see that tonight. Tomorrow is my first beekeeping class! I’ve pretty much decided that I won’t start bees till next year, but I’m taking the class to learn ahead of time anyway. And Sunday is Morgan’s 16th birthday! HOW CAN THAT BE?
She doesn’t even have her learner’s permit, so I don’t have to worry about car crashes yet. Whew.

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

It doesn’t seem like it’s been almost two years since Morgan brought home Casper.
Happy sweet 16 to Morgan!

Have you spun dog hair yet? As best I remember Great Pyrenees have a long enough undercoat that it’s worthwhile spinning.

I would love to hear about the bee keeping classes. My daughter is in a 4h entomology club. I am one of the leaders. We have talked about getting a bee box? But the question was where to put it. I have thought about offering up my property to put it. I am not a big fan of bees but the honey and wax would be great to have.

This guy makes them for sale. They are supposed to be easier to handle for everyone, including the bees. They are also better for bee health.
