Coco and the Pretender

It’s cold and gray today. The Giant Puppy has been using the winter farming lull to work with Casper. Casper’s growing up now–he’ll be two this year. Time to stop chewing on trash and start working!

Oh, well, never mind.

Some things are best left to the Giant Pup.

I’ve got a busy weekend coming up, but my internet is back on track and I’ll be back to my barn tour asap. My cousin’s wife is singing in a local community program, so I get to go see that tonight. Tomorrow is my first beekeeping class! I’ve pretty much decided that I won’t start bees till next year, but I’m taking the class to learn ahead of time anyway. And Sunday is Morgan’s 16th birthday! HOW CAN THAT BE?

She doesn’t even have her learner’s permit, so I don’t have to worry about car crashes yet. Whew.

Oh, happy Sweet Sixteen for Morgan! I’ll bet you’re proud, internet usage aside… congratulations to you both!

Hubby often refers to our male Pyr as “a throw rug with sudden bursts of energy.” But he’s not a farm dog. Coco can teach him a few tricks.

It doesn’t seem like it’s been almost two years since Morgan brought home Casper.

    Happy sweet 16 to Morgan!

Happy birthday to Morgan…..but Suzanne, don’t turn your back on her for even ONE minute!! My oldest turned 16 at the end of November and this week she got her permit! Today, in fact…..and she is at this very moment on her way to softball practice IN THE DRIVERS SEAT! :bugeyed: (dh is riding shotgun)

LOVE the pic of your two dogs! It’s like you posed them like that! Oh, of course you did, silly me. ๐Ÿ˜†

These birthdays do make you wonder where the h(#ll the time goes, doesn’t it?

  7. Spring Peeper says:

Wow! Your Great Pyr is huge! Ours is smaller. But she’s also a female so that might account for something. She’ll be 2 in May already.

Happy Sweet 16 to Morgan! Suzanne, I think you will love bee keeping. I have several friends who keep bees. I just picked up a pint of honey from a friend today. It is so much better and tastier than store bought. I couldn’t believe the difference when I first tasted it. I will never again buy honey from a store as I am now completely spoiled. Have a wonderful weekend!

So the wise words out of my daughter’s mouth while learning to drive in Roane County were that it’s easier on the roads with lines. I think you’re like me & also didn’t learn to drive where no lines were an option. Of course, speeds are higher on the roads with lines & the curves are no gentler.
Have you spun dog hair yet? As best I remember Great Pyrenees have a long enough undercoat that it’s worthwhile spinning.

    Happy Birthday to Morgan! :happyflower:

You don’t have to worry about Morgan crashing the car, but whose judgment do you trust more – hers or whomever may be driving her? Just another thought to ponder…. ๐Ÿ™‚

My thoughts on seeing the first picture:

“It’s the heroic Cisco Kid and his faithful, but somewhat goofy sidekick, Pancho!”

Morgan is going to be 16!! When did that happen! I been reading your blog so long I watched your kids grow up. How weird is that. lol. My daughter is 17, bought a car, got her licences and driving. We make good use of the cell phone and have her call when she gets to where she is going and calls before she leaves. Kind of helps a little bit in the worry department.

I would love to hear about the bee keeping classes. My daughter is in a 4h entomology club. I am one of the leaders. We have talked about getting a bee box? But the question was where to put it. I have thought about offering up my property to put it. I am not a big fan of bees but the honey and wax would be great to have.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the rest of the farm but I MISS THE CRITTERS!! Please? ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy 16th Morgan!

Suzanne, have you seen this type of beehive?

This guy makes them for sale. They are supposed to be easier to handle for everyone, including the bees. They are also better for bee health.
