My Dear Honey

There are many of you who know Ma Ma Honey (or just Honey, as she is known by her family and friends) through the years conversing together in the comments section where she posts as MMHoney. I also wrote about her several times, about visits with her or special things she sent me. You can see one of those posts here. I don’t want to go into any details, but I know that some of you would want the chance to give a prayer for her. I visited with her in the hospital yesterday, and she is being transferred to hospice now. She has lived in her own home independently to the age of 91, and is just as mentally alert and spunky as ever, and making her own decisions about what is happening at this time also. She made me both laugh and cry yesterday while we talked about what was going on with her, and about my animals and my kids and even men. “Just stay away from men, Suzanne!” I told her, “I would but I like them so much!” And then she told me to stop being so mean to my readers and post more. I told her, “I am! I’m posting every day now, I promise!”

And I will, because I promised MMHoney.

I did not, however, promise to stay away from men. Ha.

As you can tell, even a visit at her hospital bedside is an experience, and she is, as always, a woman to be admired. She is happy with her life, and ready for what will be to come. She has a wonderful family who is by her side. We all can but hope to be like her.

I know many of you who have come to know her would want to know, and she would want you to know, so that you could have the blessing of praying for her and she can have the blessing of your prayers for these coming days. I’ll keep you updated.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
