This tree in the goat yard was uprooted and knocked to the ground last night by high winds that also took out our power from early evening till around 3 a.m. Every time I look outside today, I do a double take when I see this tree down. It hit the fence, but nobody’s escaped (yet). There are probably too many large branches in the way. The fence will have to be repaired this weekend. We’re having a wild spring so far!

Glad no one was hurt or escaped! I had another blogger from WV post about a tornado warning and I thought of your place. 🙂

  2. twiggityNDgoats says:

Sorry about your tree but at least no one got out or hurt. It was certainly a really wild night in Roane County. Water, wind and preggy goats…enough to make a person nutty.

  3. Ramona says:

That’s exactly what we are doing this weekend. Hubby cut down a bunch of trees, the neighbors used their bull dozer to push them into a gulley. Now we need to build new fences this weekend.

We are moving 2 horses into the new area and making their pasture into a hay field.

    Glad no one was hurt….
HOpefully, the animals won’t find the downed fence before you have a chance to fix it.

  5. beverly says:

I hope none of the critters were hurt 😕

  6. Patricia D. says:

Yeah! Firewood for next winter. Gotta look on the bright side!

  7. skippymom says:

    Glad you are okay.

It is scary, especially when a tornado hit and devastated part of PA last night – is it so rare in our neck of the woods.

  8. Ellen McBryde says:

I am so glad that none of the animals were injured. Perhaps they will be too busy chewing on and climbing over the tree to find an exit area!

  9. Lisa says:

Great start on the wood pile for next year!

  10. Blessings from a Wildflower says:

Wow! We got snow again last night…today is cold yet sunshine…
Happy the tree didn’t hurt anyone and can be seasoned for firewood for next winter:)

We were having a nice warm Spring until last night! It will be real cool(40’s) at night here in West TN for the next week and only 50-60’s in the day. COME ON BACK SPRING!!! :snoopy:

  12. Marianne G says:

It was a scary weather day here yesterday in Cincinnati too! Glad your all OK!

  13. Donna says:

Over here in Mason Co., our 8’x24′ corn crib was lifted off its foundation and pushed 6 feet south in the same storm yesterday. Not sure if we lost any trees or not – haven’t ventured out in our woods to check yet. It was a doozie of a storm! :clover:

  14. whaledancer says:

I’m sorry you lost your nice old tree. Good thing no one was hurt.

Maybe you can keep a section of trunk for the goats to climb on, like they do the spools.

  15. MaryMooCow says:

Wow! That’s a lot of drama for the poor little goaty goats!

  16. Sandy says:

Boy the birds are going to be mad! I am sure the chickens checked the feeders for leftovers.

  17. Angela says:

Wow! I’m so glad it didn’t hit the house or the goat house! That really was a close call! I’m glad all is alright!

    Angela

  18. Kris Sherrill says:

Firewood! And a play place for the goat kids. What fun for them. I have a few big logs for my goats to play on. They love it. I am glad no one was under that tree when it fell. We have had some storms here as well. Lots of tornado warnings and watches in Tn. and N. Ga. ANd LOTS of rain. This weekend, all rain. I hope it’s nice there for all the outside cleanup.

  19. holstein woman says:

We had one tornado moment last week and no damage where it mattered. One tree top broke off in the meadow.

Very glad noone was hurt and you have a start on the firewood for next winter. Fences are always repairable or replaceable.

We have had so much rain in the last week I am praying for a few dry days so I can get in the peas, onions and salads I thought I was going to plant 2 days ago.

  20. Lisa says:

Someone told me once that life on a farm was taking care of animals and repairing fences!! Glad it only hit the fence though! Spring still has not hit us here 🙁 its winter.

  21. Journey11 says:

Oh boy, that one was a really scary storm. My daughter and I and the dog hid in the basement for a half hour. Glad the tree only hit a fence and nothing major. The ground is so wet, they can pull up so easily. This year has seen a rough start to spring!

  22. Yvonne says:

We didn’t have too major of winds here in “Tornado” WV, but we had a good bit of pea size hail. We have a sky light in one of our bathrooms and I thought for sure it was going to break! 😥 I get scared when they issue tornado watches and severe storm warnings! Did you have hail too?

  23. Darlene in North GA says:

Wow, glad all it did was fall and land on a fence!

We, too, had that lovely storm system come through my section of north GA. My weather radio alert system was going nuts for about 8 hrs. Sometimes, we’d have alerts interrupting an alert.
Had a storm system that was showing internal cloud rotation near where my ex, his wife and my daughter live!
