Farm TV

The other day when I posted about moving Beulah Petunia and Glory Bee up near the house, someone asked about the chairs in front of the chicken yard. Anyone who lives in the country knows that sitting in front of the chicken yard in the evening is better than anything you can find on television. The chickens are so much fun to watch as they peck and talk and finally line up to go inside for the night.

We also have ducks to watch.

And beyond them in the goat yard, Jack and Poky.

Of course, Clover isn’t far away, either.

She’s always got her eye on me.

And now there is my COW.

I love to sit and watch my cow.

And then what’s even better….

….is when that baby comes right on out! Baby can go anywhere she wants to go, though she stays near mama. But sometimes, oh sometimes, she comes to visit if you’re watching Farm TV.

And Farm TV is the best TV ever!

My husband and I were just talking last night about how nice it is to watch the chickens. It’s kinda like watching a fire in the fireplace. It’s relaxing and very enjoyable. We never thought we’d enjoy our chickens as much as we do. In fact we just moved them up closer to the house last weekend.

okay, okay, I get it, I do. When I was younger I used to listen to the morning farm report. That’s about as close as I got to a farm … I live IN the city. Would love to be able to watch fluffy butts, head butts, pork butts, and Glory Bee. Actually, that’s one reason I visit here, Virtual Farm TV!

So relaxing to see the photos, although I know there’s a LOT of work in between! Gotta get me a few chickens (or goats, or cats, or dogs or…….NOT!) I’ll just enjoy them through you, Suzanne.

P.S. Is it too late to sign up for your party? I would REALLY LOVE TO COME, but I’m not quite sure I will be able to. (I totally uderstand if it is too late, especially since I don’t know for sure if I can make it.)

  4. Yvonne says:

    OK, I will. Thank you!

  5. SuzzyQ says:

Amen! You can’t beat farm TV and that’s why we are trying to get a small farm in the near future. Can’t wait for chickens, a cow & her baby. A few apple trees would be nice, too. I’ll just bet that all that hard work = great sleep! You totally inspire & amaze me; how you do it all is beyond me!

What a lovely view from your white chair! I love it! What sweet animals you’ve got ๐Ÿ™‚

In my youth I lived on a farm and watched a lot of ‘farm tv’ but now I live on the edge of a small town and we watch ‘bird tv’ instead. ‘hugs’

I don’t get that channel!! I’m so envious!!!

  9. Emptyhead51 says:

Very cute, makes me want chickens of my own again. As a child I always had pet chickens around Easter time and would enjoy taking them for “walks”. Never understood why they kept running away until I became an adult. Now I know why soon after they would disappear, Mom would fix fried chicken for sunday dinner! :hungry:

when we first got our chicks we had them in the garage-we’d sit for hours watching thier antics, we called it chick tv.

  11. Jim in Colorado says:

Love the pictures. It reminds me of my Dad’s farm he used to have in Arkansas.

  12. Kim says:

We are new to farm life and never realized how much fun it would be to sit and watch our animals, especially the chickens. We have recently added horse tv and puppy tv. Calf tv is coming later this week. Can’t wait to tune into that station!

  13. Patrice says:

We have a similar channel in our area!

  14. Tina says:

I have always only enjoyed “Cat TV”. While not as exotic as real Farm Tv, it has always been ridiculously entertaining. Now that I’m in the country I watch a ton of “Sky TV” ’cause I can see sooo much of it. There’s a terrific storm tonight with oodles of beautiful lightning….doesn’t get much better.
Your animals are lovely, Suzanne! Beulah Petunia sure is getting her girlish figure back in a hurry!

  15. Jo says:

I just love to sit and watch my chickens in the evening. It is so relaxing.

  16. Barbee' says:

Suzanne, thank you for sharing yours with those of us who are farm deprived!

  17. BuckeyeGirl says:

I laughed when I saw those chairs because I knew exactly what they were for! Chickens are such a HOOT! I love chicken TV!

  18. Leann says:

Your new baby is so beautiful Suzanne. Love those big beautiful cow eyes! ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Susan says:

We call the chickens “the farmer’s fishbowl.” Even more relaxing and interesting, I think, than watching an aquarium! They’re always so busy and full of advice, complaining and gossiping.

Heard on the news today that Salem, OR finally passed an ordinance that allows up to 3 backyard hens per home inside the city limits. Of course, they also insist that backyard chicken owners buy a license for $50. Probably cancels out any monetary advantage to producing eggs in the city, but perhaps a few of our uptight urban dwellers will finally get a chance to decompress and understand Ma Nature’s wonderful design. Worth every cent!

  20. Wendy Curling says:

No matter how yucky my day, watching the chickens always makes me smile. Can’t wait till I have a whole farm animal series to watch! :snoopy:

Hubby and I grab the fold-up chairs, a glass of iced tea, and head out to the backyard. Plunk! Chairs set next to the fenced in yard where our assorted chickens peck and scratch happily away. We sit there and watch “CHICKEN TV” and sip our ice tea. The chickens are entertaining to say the least. We have the bug patrol for “Exterminators” and the young adult chickens sparing for “Dancing With The Stars.” Oh, and did I mention nosey, inquisitive bunch for “Gossip Girl.” But my favorite is when they all get to hopping, jumping, running around, and generally acting goofy…that’s the “SNL” show. Yep, we country folk got us some pretty cool TV. AND, doesn’t cost a red cent!!!

  22. ellen mcbryde says:

I bet your blood pressure lowers to nice levels while watching FTV!
I love to relax in the goat pen as I sit and watch then jump, buck, run and play on a cool evening after their “supper”

  23. DragonLady says:

Beautiful scenery and I’m sure that the audio is just as pleasing! I want to hug that cute baby, Glory Be! I’m envious too.

  24. Pete says:

Aaah, yes. We realized how it was the first night we put the baby girls into the chicken house, also new. We pulled up our lawn chairs to watch them through the window, then realized that it actually DID look like we were watching TV! Only so much better. :smilerabbit:

๐Ÿ˜† CHICKEN T.V.! I thought my husband and I (city slickers) were the only ones with chairs in front of their chicken coop/run. I love watching our girls, they are so much more entertaining than reruns on other stuff on t.v. ๐Ÿ˜†
