Georgia’s Spring

Mar
22

Every spring, as soon as Georgia sees her crocuses blooming, she calls me to tell me to come over and take pictures.

She ordered the bee up special just for me.

She also had ducks on her pond.

And calves in the pasture behind her house.

And she kept telling me if I didn’t stop taking pictures of her it would–

–BREAK MY CAMERA! Or maybe she meant she would break it.

P.S. She recently had some dead trees pushed over. It’s spring! Time to get the yard cleaned up!

I loved your original story about Georgia. She reminds me of my Grandmother. How fortunate to have someone like her around.

Isn’t it amazing to see the crocuses? To think that just a few weeks ago this was all snow covered.

What a joy to see the crocuses blooming! Aren’t they beautiful? How lovely to see the calves and the pretty mallard. I must go down to the river and see if we have a pair among the geese.

Is that Georgia’s HOUSE? We want to see, we want to see! What are the chances she will let us inside for a peek? I think you should do a whole series on Georgia and her life and what it was like. Just a thought.

Good to see Georgia. I was wondering how she was doing, hadn’t heard much about her lately, I guess she was waiting for spring to come out of hibernation, to bloom with her flowers. She is so cute.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
