House Cat

Jun
28

Little thinks he belongs in the house. On the counter, preferably. He is in and out and in and out and MOSTLY IN. No sooner does he go out than he cries at the door to come back in.

Lucky for him, I love him. He’s my Little! (He likes to sleep with me, too.)

My house cat, Gracie, likes counters too. Although she jumps onto the counter with the sink in it, then climbs up the side of the refrigerator, using the sink strainer full of clean dishes usually. Once halfway up the frig she snags whatever goodie we have “hidden” up there and pulls it down so that the dog, waiting down below, can take it and stuff it into the sofa to “hide” for later. This happened with a half dozen donuts once. They are quite the team!

My Buster cat likes the counters too. I dont like that he likes the counters. So he sneeks up there. But the cat hair is evidence he has been exploring. lol. My Andy dog and Buster cat are a team when it comes to finding goodies on the counter when I am not looking. I have caught them more than once shareing food that was not for them. lol. Now Buster cat is laying on top of a small book case that sits in front of an open window. He is on his back enjoying the breaze comming in the window this morning. lol. Dont you just love cats. :)

He is so sweet! He has grown too and looks happy and contented!

Abby is my “Little One”. She is about the same age and is a gray tabby. I have three cats and love them dearly.

Our kitty, Dooper, has never shown any interest in going outdoors, her favorite place is on my bed all stretched out sound asleep.

Yes, Kitten and Little are still good friends, but Kitten likes to stay outside more than Little.

Like T. S. Eliot’s Rum Tug Tugger: “…When you let him in, then he wants to be out; He’s always on the wrong side of every door…”

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
