Morgan brought home Jennie and their other longtime friend Felicia for supper tonight. In the middle of the afternoon, Morgan texted me: “It’s Felicia’s birthday. Do birthday things.

This should be a new Food Network show. Last Minute Birthday Dinner Challenge! I can be the star! I turned my day upside down, happily, and came up with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, garlic rolls, birthday cake, and homemade vanilla ice cream.

Felicia is 18 today, so I asked her official permission to post her picture.

I can’t imagine why Felicia’s own family didn’t have plans for her on her (big 1-8!) birthday, but I am so glad you, Morgan and Jennie were there for her!

And that child will remember it, and you, forever. I can testify to that.

I agree do it! Been there done that myself a time or two. I would again if I needed. 🙂

    Happy Birthday Felicia!

You are right! I recently did the almost same dinner for our 18 year-old granddaughter and her boyfriend and two of his buddies! We had cake but no birthday candles.

It was lovely of Morgan to know to bring Felicia to your house! (My 1965 kindergarten teacher’s first name was Felicia — I’ve always been partial to it!) Happy birthday, Felicia!

I agree 100%. Sometimes it takes a village to raise a child!

My own mom is a great mom but I had moms around me who were a little more “engaged” with their children. My friend’s moms were girl scout leaders, community volunteers, Sunday school teachers, farmers, canners. I pretty much crafted the mom that I am from all of the moms around me, including my own!

Dinner sounds great and the cake looks amazing! Homemade birthday cakes are so the way to go!

I was just imagining what a pleasure it will be for the girls to look at these pictures 50 years from now. Storing up some sweet memories.

Awww! So sweet! I’m glad she had such good friends to share her special birthday – and so awesome of you, Suzanne, to do all that you did!

  14. Rainn says:

Great post Suzanne…… And that last sentence really says it all ….. We can all learn from that….. Don’t question..don’t wonder why…. Just do it!!
    Have a nice week !

:hungry: :snoopy: ♫♪♫Happy Belated Birthday Felicia♪♫♪ What a wonderful thing for you to do Suzanne. Felicia, and your own Morgan, will remember that forever.
Bless you. And you are teaching by example, so your kindness will be passed down to their children and friends.
