Late Bloomers

Usually, I’m over-eager about getting my hanging baskets up on the front porch and have them hanging before the last frost date. I love hanging baskets on the porch. Love the trailing flowers spilling out everywhere. They just transform the porch into a little oasis of its own. But I’ve had such a busy spring, I’m behind, way behind. Eventually, I was so behind, that rather than plant my own baskets as I have done in the past, I put up these $6 baskets from the farmers market.

I don’t believe I could have done half as beautiful of a job myself, so I’m okay with that.

Let summer commence! (I’m so ready! This spring was EXHAUSTING.)

$6.00… that’s a steal. In this area a basket like that is $50.00, or more. =)

They are beautiful. Here they are $24.00 for a basket. It has been a crazy spring. Our garden is in late. You do what you have to do. They were a bargain, your seeds, etc. would have cost as much. Take a break, sit on the porch and enjoy.

I think I am finally finished up planting. Yesterday I got carrots and leaf lettuce in. Also had an envelope of flower seeds. Might be too late. Time will tell. I wish I had a porch to hang a pot of flowers. I have a concrete patio with flowers on the ground in pots. We have had lots of rain. Everything is lush and green and growning beautifully.

I usually plant my own, too. This year it just all got away from me.
I found a couple of hanging baskets for $9 each and was happy to pay it!
Sometimes, you have to accept your limitations and be happy that there are substitutes out there.
I’m gone till the end of the month again. Hopefully some of the men around here will water the baskets so they are still beautiful when I return!

When you can get them for $6.00, it would just be silly to do your own. I got some already mixed potted annuals at Lowes marked down to $3.50 per planter…score!
