The Crooked Little Hen’s front porch boyfriend, Mr. Hyde, is a persistent devil. I shut the porch gates on him to try to keep him out, but love will not be stopped so easily. He lifts his great big fluffy bottom up in the air and flies onto the gates.

From there, the porch is his oyster. He takes the Crooked Little Hen out to eat at the Dog Food Buffet then they sleep together in the Old Armchair Motel. The Crooked Little Hen thinks it’s romantic. Somebody didn’t raise her right.

Have you tried the red laser pointer yet? Works like a charm at getting chickens to flee the area post haste!

That dog food buffet will entice them every time. You could set up a new restaurant down near their cages (but I am sure they would still come to their old favorite)they probably like variety too! Do they lay good eggs for you? (as a thank-you)

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
