The snow has been sliding off the roof in huge sheets that are fascinating to watch. Stay out from underneath them!

At least it is starting to warm up out there. I’ve had enough snow for this year!!

  2. Runningtrails says:

Here too! We have had unseasonably warm weather and everything is melting!

    LOVE that porch swing!

We’re starting to melt around here too. It’s exciting this time of year because Spring is just around the corner.

It’s only 18 days to the Vernal Equinox…better known as the first day of Spring. I was beginning to think it would never come. As I get older, I am definitely looking more and more to the warmer weather. Now I understand why a lot of older folks move South. I’m tempted to move to Georgia where my brother lives. BUT, you know, I would probably miss the snow. I guess I’m a northern country girl by heart after all. Even though I complain about the snow, I always look for the first flakes each year. I I like my “climate” changes just the way they are. Gives this ornery old country girl something to complain about. LOL

The snow started falling off the roofs here, too, the other day. It took me forever to figure out WHAT that noise was!!! I wish there was a way to bottle some of this snow and cold for in the summer when it’s too hot out! Then we’ll complain about that! 😆

The crooked little hen and her boyfriends better watch out. They will never survive and avalanche of roof snow.

  7. Sara says:

Yikes! My parents have a metal roof that creates the same sort of avalanches. I used to park my truck beside the house when I went home, but now I have to back up just far enough so that my truck doesn’t get pelted. LOL Oh! I am so excited for Spring, and I love your natural decorations and pictures from it. ^.^

Whooooo hooooo! Supposed to get in the low 50’s the rest of the week. Downside: more snow predicted for the rest of the month.

  9. Mary says:

Yes, we are definitely having an upside down winter. Places that have had very little snow ever before are now being deluged. And here we sit day after day with sunny fine weather. We are still waiting to be dumped on. We have never before had a mild winter like this. U.P. of Michigan.

Wow! That must be something to listen to. I woke up to pitter patter on the roof.
Watch out, as your creeks will be a risin’….

I remember seeing sights like this when I lived in British Columbia. Of course when you get 40-60 feet of snowfall every winter theres a LOT of snow sliding off your roof and when it lets go it roars as it slides off the roof. I remember one elderly fellow who was up on his carport trying to get the heavy build up of snow to slide off …he fell when it started to go and he broke his jaw when the hugs chunks fell on him. Poor fellow had it wired shut for quite a while. It was the last time he ever got back up there again! Be glad you don’t get that much snow Suzanne! :hungry2:

The barn and arena where my horses are boarded have a metal roof and when that huge amount of snow slides, it first makes a crackling noise and then its like a roaring thunder as it slides and hits the ground. If the horses are in the arena, it spooks them and they run, not knowing where to go! I try not to be riding when I know the snow will be sliding!!!!!

I too find the icy overhangs fascinating. I took a photo of the very same thing on our front porch yesterday. I was surprised to see it was still there this afternoon after this day of warmer temps (high 30’s). I also noticed a couple of days ago that the snow sliding down our steeply sloping roof had big wrinkles. It looked neat. I meant to take a picture but forgot. Next time. One huge pile of snow in a parking lot at school today (where I work) was at least 15 feet high and taking up a large amount of space. We got a LOT of snow from Thursday and Friday’s storm!
    I’m ready for spring too!

We are expecting light snow tonight! AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

    NorthCountryGirl,
You do NOT want to move to Ga if you’re wanting to be free of cold/snow. It’s been snowing and snowing here. It’s been down in the teens for days – DURING the day, several times this winter. A few times hit hit single digits at night. We’ve done nothing but have rain, snow, rain, snow, rain for MONTHS – in the cold. Nope, unless you like snow, you don’t want to be here.

    lol
