Mea Culpa | Chickens in the Road

I feel as if I owe February an apology. After trying to get rid of her, temperatures climbed to 50 degrees here today and there was snow melt all over the place! Which was strange because I know that many of you are experiencing a “storm of the century” with ice and snow. I feel your pain if your power goes out. (Been there, done that, for a WEEK!) Stay warm and safe–and find the candles! February isn’t so bad…. She’s just not reliable. Hang tight. It might be 50 tomorrow!

P.S. Except it’s raining here now and I think I’m about to be flooded in.

Oh wow! You got lucky! Today here in NE Texas it is about 20 and dropping to low teens… So enjoy your mini spring!

Enjoy, you need a break! We are well on our way to over an 80 degree difference in temps in 5 days. Didn’t get above 0 today, and 5 days ago, I registered 82 on my weather station.

My darling husband is on his way to Indiana with several power crews to help restore power to one of those towns that is expected to get a lot of ice from this storm! I hope for everyone’s sake that it is not that bad! We had highs in the 60′s this weekend…..but it is cold and rainy tonight.

Here in Pa we are under a Ice Storm Warning. Water jugs are filled, candles are ready, lanterns are waiting. Hope everyone stays safe and warm

Right on, Ginny! Got all the water pails and jugs filled in case the power goes. Enjoy your warm spell, Suzanne. You’ve had lots of snow when we didn’t. Only I want snow, not ice!!

WOW! This ice/snow storm is really bad. You all take care and it sounds like many of you are very well prepared. It’s raining here in WV as Suzanne said. And it reached almost 60 degrees near Charleston – it was great. But now we are in a “wind advisory” for tomorrow – gusts between 40 – 55 MPH from 2AM thru 7PM. Batten down the hatches and get the generator ready, ’cause you know with all of the trees here in WV, wind is almost as bad as heavy snow! to everyone!

Thanks for reminders to get water ready. Not looking forward to this storm. We got about 4-5 inches already here in New York. Told daughter don’t plan on working tomorrow. She crept to work today. I am so ready for May to be here. Green grass and flowers starting to bloom. Be safe everyone.

Green grass and flowers – OMG – here in Colorado we got up to 0 today – that was our high. Tonight it’s going to be -21 – I’m hoping my legs don’t fall off walking to the car when I leave for work tomorrow morning at 6 am. WOw Suzanne – that sounds like a day at the beach where you are by comparison – lucky you – but we are going to be back up to 47 by Friday so warmth is acoming. Hope the goat babies are loving the nice temps – bless their little bouncing hearts.

I sincerely hope you’re lucky and your power stays on. I am so thankful not to be anywhere in the path of the storm. It was a sunny, mild day in Seattle today, although by Thursday we should have rain again. But mild temperatures! That’s the important thing! When I think about what so many of you are going through, our cool, gray, drizzly days don’t seem so bad . And the last time I had 2 feet of snow in my yard was around 12 years ago.

Wow! At 50 degrees I would have thrown on my swimsuit and went for a dip. It was 4 degrees here in Wyoming today and getting down to -22 tonight! Luckily we’re not getting hit by any of that crazy storm though!

50 and sunny here in Oregon. Winter is not over but we are way under average for rainfall. Hate to say it but we really need the rain if we are going to “keep Oregon Green”!

Hunkering down here in Illinois–tomorrow is supposed to be the worst part. The snow/wind combination has raged today, but dangerously low temps are coming, too. I confess to serious jitters each time the lights flicker. So far, so good.

We’re getting the blizzard/snowstorm right now in Michigan. All the schools and many workplaces are already closed. It’s being called a “History-breaking snowstorm” and we may get more than 16 inches of snow! ( I”m thinking the groundhog is staying down below tomorrow! ) I have my blanket and dog, Rosie keeping my feet warm. Tomorrow I’m planning on baking cookies with the kids.

I was thinking of doing some baking tomorrow , I guess I’ll have to wait and see how cold it is in my kitchen tomorrow , if it’s not to cold I might bake some bread , cookies and maybe a pie .

My Oregon temp. this morning is 26. We had good calf dropping weather the last few days and got 2 on the ground safely. I have 2 more coming in the next couple of days. Hoping for more BLESSINGS for those mommas. I hate calving in the cold, but then I’m not out there.
Sounds like anyone East of the Rockies is getting hit, you are in my prayers.
