You know you have a good milk cow if they are easy to train and they will come at the expected hours and even wait.

It took a few days–and fun and games hiking into the thicket after her–but Beulah Petunia got her act together pretty quickly. Now she comes every morning and every evening to her milk stand by the gate. She moos loudly to let me know she has arrived. Then she sits down and waits.
What a good cow! I love my cow.

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

I love her disposition. My Willow could take some lessons from her.
Yesterday, she decided to not let her milk down………period. I finally put her calf on one side and I milked the other and guess what?
I got just as much milk from my half as I have been getting from all four quarters…….she has been holding up for her precious babies.
I got 1.5 gallons. So now there will be a new milking routine…at least until the baby just gets too big.
