Polar Ice Cap

Dec
16

It’s snowing, snowing, snowing today. Again. I think this is the most snow I’ve seen this early (before winter has even, technically, started) since I moved to West Virginia.

Poky can’t believe it.

But she does like her snow cap!

Everybody’s covered in snow.

But they come out long enough to eat.

And play.

And groom. Because even if it’s snowing, it’s important to look pretty.

If you’re a duck.

So beautiful Suzanne. It’s like that in Huntington too and my critters are covered as well. Stay warm.

I’m a little north of you and were getting hit too. It was unexpected to hit this far north. Nowhere to go so I am loving it!

  3. Ramona says:

Glad they are doing okay with all the snow!

  4. Urbanite says:

A friend in the Fairfax area of Virginia has about 2 inches and it is still snowing. I wouldn’t mind having some of that here instead of the flooding we had last weekend. I love snow!

  5. holstein woman says:

Well Suzanne, I live in Oregon and we had snow in Nove. before Thanksgiving. We are very muddy and have NO snow, Thank you Lord, but sunshine here, I’ll see if God will pour some on you when I pray.
Father in heaven, there are parts of this glorious country who would like a share of our sunshine you have graced us with. Would you please share with them also, in Jesus Name, Amen

It IS pretty! I’m hoping it hits us but it may go out to sea 🙁

  7. EBet says:

Especially when you’re a white duck, and all that white snow makes you look not so white!

  8. Billie says:

Polar cap indeed! In Mercer County, West Virginia, we already have 5 days of school closed, 3 days of delayed opening and where we live over 4 ft of snow. C’mon first day of winter, we need a break!

I found and loved your blog for the first time this summer. It never occurred to me then how awesome it would be in the winter! I love Pokey.

  12. texwisgirl says:

Oh those poor little snow-laden animals! I know they’re warmer than they look, but still…

  13. brookdale says:

Ooh, poor Poky, with the icicle hanging off her eyelid! All the animals look really cold, but they have lots of warm fur or feathers to keep them warm.
I am sure lots of cookies will help too!

  14. Karo says:

Poor Poky! She looks like an icicle. Can you give the hot chocolate instead of water? No?

  15. gldno1 says:

I wonder what real winter will bring?

Our little 1/2 inch snow is almost gone and we are back up to 38°.

  16. Miss Becky says:

Oh oh oh, I love these photos!!!! Whenever I get a glimpse of Boomer, it’s a happy day. I see he’s busying himself. That 4th photo is fabulous, and the last. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing Suzanne. Lovely day.

  17. DorkyDeb says:

I know what you mean about the snow. We’ve got so much on top of what we already had, that I’ve lost count.

  18. Whaledancer says:

Brr, looks cold. And wintery. It’s beautiful, but I hope your roads will be clear soon. Good thing you stocked up early. Got plenty of aluminum foil?

  19. ann says:

Even covered in snow I want to cuddle all of them.

    It’s gorgeous though!

  21. Heidi says:

My goats refuse to leave their house. Seriously, there has been snow on the ground for two weeks and the only goat prints are one set that go all of a foot past the roof edge. They are so spoiled.

  22. leanna says:

That is so cool! Seems like it should be in some christmas pageant!

  23. kerri says:

The weather looks just like that here too, Suzanne. School was closed today.
The animals look so cute covered in snow. I love Pokey’s snow bonnet 🙂
Wonderful photos, and oh, what a nice, clean, and very pretty duck!
Congratulations of winning the photo competition!! :sheep:

  24. Dena Martin says:

Our goats do not like the snow and are very vocal about how they feel. LOL
