Rising Water

Look at this photo from yesterday afternoon:

And this photo from this morning:

You can see the difference in the level of the river and that the water is up in the ford. However! School was on today, though Morgan had to be gotten out over the muddy road in the other direction. There will be no driving across the river ford today!

P.S. Someone asked about this yesterday–this is the Pocatalico River. It’s a long but narrow and shallow river, mild and meek…..except when it rains. Then it can be as raging wild as any river you’ve ever seen. I’m always glad that our house is far above it when it floods.

you know Suzanne, you should give some thought to taking down a few more trees towards the river view. that really is a lovely site.

Isn’t it nice to look down on the flooding river.

There’s a nice National Weather Service graph of the flood level of the Pocatalico River at Sissonville at https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=rlx&gage=sisw2

(Okay, so maybe I’m a little bit of a weather geek.)

“How high is the water Mama?”
“Well it’s two feet high and risin'”

Those pictures make me think of Johnny Cash. Hopefully you won’t have to go to safety floating on a door made into a raft (as he says he had to).
