That’s a duck egg! Usually the biggest eggs I get come from ducks, though I’ve been getting a few big brown ones and lately I’ve been getting….
….one giant blue egg a day that is even bigger than the duck eggs!

Jan, you can use duck eggs just like chicken eggs. It’s difficult for me to describe the difference. I like duck eggs. Duck eggs just seem richer to me, but that’s probably not the right word. Anyway–they’re good!

Every once in awhile, one of my hens (not sure which one) will lay a GIGANTO egg. Usually, it’s a double yolker…I love double yolkers. But, once in awhile the egg turns out to be a single yolker with a yolk the size of a pingpong ball. I kind of feel for whichever chicken it was because that must have been one uncomfortable laying session. AND, I too have the occasional egg carton with one side higher than the other. I love having chickens.

Just look at that stash of crafting supplies in that egg carton…
Oh me, oh my….Blown-out duck egg projects and don’t forget the cute little banty eggs….and that paper mache egg carton…you can cut out the little middle thingys and glue them together and put a wire thru and paint and glitter and by next Christmas cover a tree in eggs and ornaments…..

My childrens art class made pin cushions out of the older rusted jar rings…picture frames and ornaments…don’t throw those out when they get a little rusty…paint and glitter, paint and glitter…..LOL

I did miss the gallon plastic milk bottle…we made piggy banks out of those…paint the screw cap and dot for the nose…put on eyes…cork feet…and a twisted pipe cleaner tail…a slit in the top and a “penny saved is a penny earned”…LOL

My chickens sometimes lay gigantic eggs too. One of the easter eggers lays them and one of the sex links. Some are double yolkers and some just have one huge yolk.
My Pekin duck lays eggs the same size as regular large sex link eggs. For a long time we didn’t realize that they were duck eggs. I sold them and ate them along with the chicken eggs, no one knew the difference aside from the slightly odd shell. One day I caught the duck laying one and realized. My picky husband was horrified that he’d been enjoying duck eggs!
Oh and I also love gazing at my eggs, everyone thinks they are so beautiful with the bright mix of colors…I love the rainbow egg basket I get when everyone is laying!

Love the gigantic egg! Someone’s getting ready for Easter! I got two blue eggs yesterday. No it’s not my other Ameracauna, I got over anxious and went and bought 6 more Ameracauna pullets/hens and 2 Buff Orpington pullets Monday evening. I can’t help it! I’m addicted to chickens!!!!! I’m up to 4 roosters and 30 hens so far.

Ah, it can be overwhelming when our chicks exceeding our expectations. Recently, even in this freezing cold weather, we’ve been getting about 10 eggs a day from our baker’s dozen of hens.

You should start saving the egg shells to make cascarones and you would have the prettiest ones for Easter. I never knew about cascarones until I moved to soputh Texas, but they are fun.

When we had chickens we had one chicken that would lay pinkish colored eggs. Now the guy we buy our eggs from we get green and blue ones. If you got them together you’d not have to color them for Easter. LOL :snoopy:
