Taking a Gander at the Girls

I’ve noticed lately that Beulah Petunia seemed to look a little heftier.

(No, I don’t think she’s pregnant. She was preg-checked twice and she’s not.)

I wondered if it was just the angle so I went around to the other side of the yard. She does seem a bit heftier! Maybe she’s putting on some weight since she quit working. She has nothing to do but sit around eating chips and watching TV.

Glory Bee, on the other hand, has this weird kind of swag in her back going on. Maybe she needs to work on her posture. She looks like somebody’s been riding her bareback.

I swear I have not!

Maybe you need to test BP again……..

Ummmm……….I know personally of 3children who were born after several tests and even a Dr said for 4 mos mother wasn’t pregnant……just saying! :snuggle: ???

Is the government vet due out soon? Maybe he could take a look at Glory Bee, or maybe you could phone him and ask about her back.

Are you sure MORGAN hasn’t been riding Glory Bee? She is itching for a horse, after all! 😉

Love the little piles in the pasture. hahaha
Just kidding you have to have a few piles if you have a farm.

    Looking good, both of them.
If she is not pregnant, nor nursing GB, she is expending fewer calories than before. So is packing on a few lbs.

I seem to remember when I judged cattle for FFA that we looked at the fat over the shoulder and just above the tail bone to check the animal’s condition – that was for meat cattle, I never judged dairy.

I guess BP has gained weight since she’s not working, like you said. GB is probably at that awkward stage…not all filled out yet! :cowsleep:

    Are those cowpies or molehiles?

Like Glory Bee would *let* someone ride her…bareback or otherwise! LOL! 🙂

There’s nothing wrong with GB’s back. Especially in the second picture, you can see she’s not standing “square,” with one foot directly underneath each of her corners. That makes them look swaybacked. Because cows in particular have very limited muscle directly along the spine, it can make them look funny. Now if one is judging dairy cow confirmation, the straighter a cow’s topline, the better. Since I don’t expect you’re entering GB in any dairy competitions, Suzanne, she’s just fine. 😉
It’s a great sign that BP is gaining weight! Milking is hard on a cow, and it’s good to let her gain weight & fill out. Now, if her ribs completely disappear…lol
