The Dearest of Seasons

Dec

For dogs, the dearest season is deer season. The time of year when carcasses abound. Pick them up, carry them home, toss them in the air, make them dance. They are almost LIKE REAL FRIENDS!

And if you get tired–

–they will gladly take a nap.

Looks like someone will be having a Saturday night bath on Monday. :snoopy: Gotta love our stinky pets.

  2. D1BeachBum says:

    That’s one happy dog. :snoopy:

Ha. Looks familiar! I dread deer-carcass season. Casper looks content though.

LOL when I lived up the ‘holler’ for 12 years, this was the only thing I dreaded in the Spring – the raining away of the snow, revealing all the ‘toys’ in the yard ….. :bugeyed:

  5. CarrieJ says:

    That’s sorta sick…I like it!

  6. cabynfevr says:

    SUZANNE! That’s just nasty! lol

  7. JOJO says:

:woof: What was that poor animal?

My dogs love to roll in deer poop. They think it’s the most wonderful perfume!!

One of my most vivid memories of my Lab before the one I have now was going to let him in the back door and realizing just a split second before he’d be inside that he had an entire deer leg in his mouth…complete with bloody stump. Eeuuuuwwwwww!

  10. Flatlander says:

Yes they love it..and isn’t it great they can be happy with so little ;-).
However I would have never guessed that being a deer…they must look different in WV then here where I live.

  11. yvonnem says:

Suzanne, I really don’t think that is a deer. The fur seems too dark. I had my hubby look at it and his first thought was that it was a dog. Worse yet, maybe a goat!!!

  12. Camille says:

Have to agree with yvonnem. That sure doesn’t look like the pelt of any deer I’ve ever seen. Hmmmm, Grey and black…looks like a coyote…or maybe some kind of domestic animal…or?? Blech! Gotta love those dawgs – always bringing home a friend. 😆

  13. Chic says:

That boy sleeps hard! Looks like he played himself out…poor thing 😉

  14. KarenAnne says:

Here’s another vote for not a deer.

  15. Flowerpower says:

Where do these dead carcasses come from? Animals dying from natural causes or hunters? Whew…I would hate for them to drag that up on the porch! :bugeyed:

  16. Diane says:

ewww gross!!! lol. I agee with the others it does not look like a deer. I was thinking another dog? yuck. I dont know how you do it. I get grossed out when my cat catches a mouse in the house and he leaves it where I can step on it. Got to love our critters. lol.

  17. native daughter says:

It’s early AM, getting my ole house completly plumbed today too. I swear you crack me up. Your blog is the funniest thing I’ve ever read. And that dog…don’t get any better. :dancingmonster:

  18. mermonster says:

Ahh I remember those days from when my dog was younger and we lived near the woods. Always a surprise. And it’s definitely a deer. You can see the hoofs in the first picture.

  19. wildcat says:

I can’t decide whether I should laugh, or be disgusted.

  20. DancesInGarden says:

I find it hilarious how that dog just plops down and takes a nap where ever he feels like it LOL! Is it just me, or does he still have a tuft of fur in the corner of his mouth? :bugeyed:

  21. JeannieB says:

That’s a funny looking deer, never saw a black and white one. Not a native SC deer anyway!!
