The Second Tuesday of Every Week

Several months after I moved in here, I found this metal sign stuck behind one of the old church pews in front of the cellar. In case you can’t read it, it says:

FRIENDS WELCOME

RELATIVES BY APPOINTMENT

APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED ON THE
SECOND TUESDAY OF EVERY WEEK

I’m pretty sure the sign belonged to the immediate past previous owners.

I like it, despite how unwelcoming it sounds! Because, well, sometimes one does feel that way about certain people! Not ALL relatives, of course, but…. So I put the sign out.

Dear Relatives,

You know who you are.

Love,
Suzanne

hahahaha. I love it. And yes, they SHOULD know whom they are, but then if they were the kind to think that this was meant for THEM, they wouldn’t be the kind that would NEED a sign like this! True?

  2. PinkyMac says:

Ha! I know how you feel Suzanne. I have a welcome sign that spins around to say “Go Away” on my porch. :snoopy:

  3. brookdale says:

So, what does the other sign say? The one behind the kitty?

  4. Dumbcatluvr says:

I have a welcome mat with Wiley Coyote on it getting ready to push the plunger down beside sticks of dynomite.Says “STEP HERE” :dancingmonster:

  5. Cheryl LeMay says:

I am very fortunate that I don’t have any relatives like that.

  6. CassieOz says:

I need a sign JUST like that for a certain paternal relative of mine who just ‘pops in’ upto four days a week. His timing is impeccable and he just knows when I’m in the middle of doing something that I’d love to finish (and not have to put the kettle on). HoHum… Ya don’t get to pick ya relatives.

  7. SpinnersEndFarm says:

    What a beautiful kitty!

The sign reads “Catables” or “kittytables”

  8. knititblack says:

That is the best sign ever! There’s a reason my husband and I live far away from most of our relatives. 😉 I love my mother, but if we lived close to one another, we’d end up HATING each other!

  9. MMHoney says:

My Sweet Granny had a saying; Company and Fish both stink after three days.

  10. Journey11 says:

Oh, I totally need a sign like that! I have an unwelcome relative who enjoys popping in just to see if she can catch you with your pants down.

  11. SuzieQ says:

    My door sign says:
“Dogs Welcome – People Tolerated”..perfect! :woof: :snoopy:

  12. doodlebugroad says:

I’m going to rummage up an old board or something to make this sign – the message is a perfect fit!

  13. BuckeyeGirl says:

And of course having a kitty named Killer next to the sign adds some extra oomph to it doesn’t it?
